Avg Stride Length-FIXED!

I have a forerunner 235 and the "Avg Stride Length" stat used to be presented under "Running Dynamics". This stat has disappeared in my latest run (run yesterday on 5/4). Is this a one-time blip or is this now a thing?
  • I also noticed missing information when I upload from a 735XT.

I no longer have stride, vertical ratio or ground contact time balance showing in Connect (online or app). They were OK until May 6th but the run on May 8th they were no longer showing and all my runs since do not have the them. Only the cadence is still showing.

I think this may be coming from my having to do all my uploads through the app rather than the computer. The data is also missing from the screens in the apps for all runs after May 6th. The 735XT would not sync through he cable (which is my preferred method) since version 7.20.

Garmin seems to have managed to mess up the update for both the watch and the app. Nice double header.

Average Stride Length = Distance in Meters / (Average Cadence X Time in minutes)

Now if you have km to get meters from that you multiply your distance by 1000 ie 2.76km is 2760 m

If you have time in hours min and seconds you'll need to multiply the hours by 60, keep the minutes the same, and divide the seconds my 60, then add them all up.
    example

    2h 26min 13s would be (2x60)+(26)+(13/60)
    =120 + 26 + (.216667) keep at least 3 decimal places
    =146.216667

So all you'll need is your average cadence then you are all set

    Hope this helps

    Thanks! Very helpful
  • Just as a note. The data is missing if you sync via the mobile app or directly on the computer to Connect.

Thank you for the Avg Stride Length Formula!

Average Stride Length = Distance in Meters / (Average Cadence X Time in minutes)

    Hope this helps

Thanks for sharing, will continue to compute on my own until Garmin Connect works again.
Besides this Stride Length issue, I hope they are able to display Full Year Goal (https://connect.garmin.com/modern/goals) on the Garmin Connect Mobile App too!

This is a pity. It seems to have affected the older watches - mine is a 220.

The support post Understanding Stride Length

    only mentions recent ones.
Stride Length is a measure of distance of your steps. Some Garmin devices will provide this information in Garmin Connect after upload. The fenix 3, fenix 5/5S/5X, Forerunner 630, Forerunner 920XT, and tactix Bravo use GPS and data from the HRM-Run to calculate your Stride Length in real time and can be displayed in a data field.

Stride Length is one of many new Advanced Running Dynamics that the device

Hopefully it will be back shortly for older devices.
  • We have recevied reports that some users are no longer seeing the Average Stride length in Garmin Connect. We are investigating this and will update this thread with any new information.

    Any update?

    Stride Length

My stride length is missing also. I am using a 910XT. A connection of mine using a 920XT is showing stride length. I hope we get this back.
  • same here: missing stride length (FR220). emailed the support but still no response.
