unable to use garmin connect

hello garmin. hope you have a great day. i have garmin fenix 3 hr and i love your company products. except that you dont permit us to use your features.
i am living in iran and so many of my friends have garmin products which if you want i'll send you all of their s/n to make you sure im telling you the truth. but thats not fair to use a product of a company which still do not count you in its customers.

do anything you want with us. do not ship to iran. do not say about iran. but not letting us to use the feature you said the device has, thats just not fair.

I, as an iranian, beg you to remove the sanctions you have against us and please permit us to use your site.

thanks for your good products.

hope my words may work.
  • Sorry but I'm unclear what your issue is? What doesn't work?

i cant open garmin site and garmin connect. when i want to visit the connect site, it writes you dont have the permission to access this site.
  • Looks like you're being blocked by your ISP, contact them for help.

    nope
it wasnt them. the garmin itself is blocking us.
as another test, i have tried it with other operators too.
  • Then call them and see what they say, I don't know for example whether your country blocks things like that, I know China enforces all sorts of blocks on internet access, maybe Iran does also?

There is a parallel thread called "Connect down again", where currently many UK people report issues too.

So maybe it's a temporary issue in Iran too?

If you have an iPhone or iPad or maybe a friend has one, download the free version of Puffin web browser and try it during the day (the free version blocks access during night hours). This browser uses a proxy server in the USA, which might help, if it really is a problem with Iran's internet. Worth a try.

If it really is an issue related to Iranian internet, I guess it's not Garmin's fault. Why should Garmin block Iran ... they want to sell their products worldwide and make money ;)

The number of affected users doesn't matter. What matters is, that it is a temporary phenomenon, because it worked before and I bet will again soon.

I just wanted to show our Iranian friend, that it is very unlikely, that Iran is banned on Garmin's site. Garmin doesn't sell weapons or nuclear tech, so why should they ban Iran. It just makes no sense.

thank you all for your responses
i know that its not just connects problem. right now, i'm using proxy to write this topic. i cant access any part of garmin site. except the www.apps.garmin.com
and i dont think iran is blocking the site. i mean why should it block it? as you guys say we have many garmin products in iran. and i think there is no reason to block the site which we use.

so thats not just connect sites problem.(as you guys said some other people have this problem too with connect site.

Because it is an US company? Who knows, what strange ideas some politicians develop ;) But if it would be a ban, no matter on which side, why then does apps.garmin.com work? That is not logical, because a ban would affect *.garmin.com, so ALL Garmin sites, right?

I would highly recommend contacting Garmin support to let them know about this issue.

PS: In a different thread someone reported problems with Chrome, but Firefox seems to work, so maybe check that too.

PPS: Does Garmin Connect Mobile work? Are there differences between WiFi and mobile network?
