Anyone monitoring challenges?

I am in a 40k challenge, with others who walk at my level. Last week the winner of the challenge had 74,000 steps, close to twice as many as several people in the challenge. That was frustrating enough, but I see he is back again this week, already after one day having twice as many steps as the rest of us. It appears his normal step count is more than 10k a day. What is the point of dividing up the challenges into step counts if someone with twice as many steps are not moved to a challenge filled with people walking at their level? None of us in this group will ever be able to win this challenge if they don't move him. Does anyone pay any attention to these challenges?
  • There appears to be an issue. Whilst I didn't win the challenge this week I logged over 15K steps more than the challenge. Typically this would leave you in the same challenge but I dropped to a lower one. Is someone at Garmin investigating?
  • I find the whole thing a bit useless.

If I go to my Badges I see I have one for a First Challenge win on 12 September. No idea how many steps the Challenge was for or how many I did. Clicking on the Badge / Date doesn't take me back to the Challenge.

If I go to Challenges there are only two there (I am new to Garmin). My "winning" one isnt there. One was for week 18 September which was a 65K challenge. I got third with 91k steps. Then this week I am bumped down to the 60k Challenge.

What does seem unfair to other people in this challenge (theres only 14 - why so few?) is that I'm on a marathon Training Plan - so I'll knock off the 65k without too much trouble and if my total doesn't look good by Saturday it will get a boost when I do my 29km long Run.

Maybe Challenges are just for walkers and not for people in training. I much prefer the Strava challenges

    wrong group challenge

this week i have 3x more steps than 2nd place. i have asked the question to my current group if im am in the 85k challenge but no response. i frequently do 120k steps +. not the first time it felt like i have been in the wrong group.

I think I'm experiencing the same problem. For the last two weeks I was in a 90K challenge. I won both weeks with 104k and 154k steps. This week I moved to a different distance, but it went down. Now I'm in an 85k challenge. Why?
  • Hi, so I have a question regarding step counts and challenges, there's a particular person who doesn't have any steps/syncs all day long then at the end of the day, like at 10pm ish, there's like 14,000+ steps. How is that possible?

Difinitely possible if you go on a good hike or trail run.

same here, two weeks ago won 35k group, moved down to 30k group and won that last week, now in a 25k group this week
  • Definitely something strange going on! Won the 75k challenge and got dropped to the 65k challenge. Won that and today it said did I want to opt in and has put me back in zero steps challenge!!
  • Last week I was in the 100k challenge and my step count was above 125k. This week I am in the 95k challenge. What's going on?

    Even weirder

Last week I was in the 55K Challenge. I didn't win it, but I did get 74,000 steps. On Monday I found I'd been put down to the 50K challenge, by Tuesday morning the leader already had 45,000 steps, so they clearly weren't in the right place. I just checked again this afternoon (Tuesday) and now I'm back in the 55K group with a whole different bunch of people! Sort it out Garmin!!!

I think I got the algorithm but it is not very clever.

    Hello all,

In the beginning I was in every challenge on first or second place. After being two week first or second I come up to the next higher challenge. At the end I was in the 85k challenge but i had no chance to win or get second. I have arround 100k steps a week but first and second had more than 120k.
So I fell down. Every week I was not getting first or second it went down. Yesterday I fell from 65k to 60k with 100k steps but the first had 102k and the second 101k . So I think how it works. But if you have no chance to win a 65k challenge with 100k steps, sth. in the algorithm turns wrong.
