you may want to look again as it says this

"Current Status at 1:55:11 PM GMT+1

We are currently experiencing issues during login to the website. We are investigating the issue."

You mean this view of status page from time of posting?

I didn't log out, the cookie settings should be keeping my session open. If I'd logged out or not logged onto this machine before and was getting a login error message then that status would be applicable.

It looks like the current view on https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status reflects an outage.

    Still down on my end.

Still saying "Temporarily Unavailable" on my phone. I thought it may be a problem with the app, so I removed and reinstalled it. Now, having to re-pair my Vivofit and it is saying "Device not found".
  • In defense of Garmin (rare for me these days) during the 13 or so months I was a Fitbit user there were at least 3 extended (more than 24 hours) periods of downtime. The first of which happened on Christmas day, presumably due to overloaded servers.

And as far as communication concerns, I doubt the I.T. folks that have been scrambling all day have access to the Twitter or Facebook accounts of Garmin. It's Sunday and those people are probably not even aware of any problem. Sure, it would be nice if they had at least acknowledged the problem here in the forums (and provided updates.) but I know from personal experience that sometimes it is best to just place all hands on deck towards solving the problem as updates just create more questions and answering questions is a time sucker.

Now if you don't mind, please fix the software on my watch now.
  • Well, somebody is watching because the main complaint thread in this forum was locked, and no resolution or official update has been provided. Pretty disgusted, honestly.
  • This outage is just not acceptable. Buying any wearable these days has a lot of value tied to application and web additive services. It's not just a matter of buying the wearable (in my case the Fenix 3 HR), it's having a decent application to look at the synchronized information as well as some level of a web portal.

In my opinion, this is one of the weaknesses with the Apple Watch--no back-end portal, and lousy supporting on-phone application.

This is the second time that Garmin's portal has been down in the last week or so. Someone needs to take this a bit more seriously, and look at making the necessary investments and changes (in staff and technology) to ensure that their services stay active. There's nothing more annoying then getting back from a run (or bike, or swim, or whatever) and not have the full visibility that one would get by looking at the results online.

Sadly, this practice is far more common than it should be. It typically comes from a poorly managed team or company who dismiss accountabilities.

What they fail to realize is that this type of bahaviour does far more damage to their brand than being forthcoming on errors, mistakes and issues.

We live in a very fast paced world where high availability is not only nice, but required. There is no reason why Garmin cannot design high availability into their systems; this is not a new concept by any means and also not only possible for the richest and largest of companies.. Garmin of course not being a small business though; so no excuses really.

When I see situations like these I know from experience that we are at the mercy of a poorly managed team of "professionals".

Let's not even get into the numerous software related problems with their devices to round it all out.

Garmin, I suggest you give some serious consideration to a restructuring of development and support departments if you wish to remain competitive in the future... people are going to start choosing lesser quality hardware as that is far more acceptable than constant software and support issues!

I do love my Garmin vivo HR but I am starting to serious wonder whether the feeling is mutual!

Ugh. I just got my forerunner 235 two days ago. Super excited... Went on a trial run and then today went for a record run.

App hasnt worked at all, all day... Was really hoping this was just a bad luck glitch but if this is common I'm just going to return it. I just want something that works. Also really put off and surprised the forum threads are now locked: what's the point of having a community then?

Mobile app still says "we are down for maintenance etc etc"

Whilst this is the first outage I have experienced since I got my Forerunner 235 in January it's fairly poor, no warning or acknowledgement from Garmin that I'm aware of.

They just blocked my last rant. Maybe this one will make it. Shows you exactly what we are up against here. :(
