Garmin Connect issues

Is anyone else having issues with the Connect Webservice?
I checked the status (https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status) but everything is supposed to be alright?! But then again, they screw up pretty much every release of a new version, and we did get v6.90 for the fenix3 yesterday..

I am getting exceptions (see below), login errors in Germin express, "We're sorry, this feature didn't load quite right." messages for some widgets and a "It looks like you don't have access privileges to view this activity." when I try to open an activity.

Sorry, we encountered an internal error.
Details
I/O error on GET request for "connectapi.garmin.com/.../6300102025390531":Connection reset; nested exception is java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

now before you close this thread can someone useful try to help me to solve this problem ?

    i will repeat :

i can upload my runs through garmin express but when i klik the garmin connect it sends me to the garmin connect modern webpage which is just a blank page with a few icons on the left of the page....but none of the icons work !!

ergo it will not show me any details ?

i have tried removing and uploading but still nothing ?

so how am i supposed to use the garmin connect modern ?

thankyou for any useful responses before you close this thread .
  • This thread wasn't closed so why you started a new one I don't know. I've now merged them.

What you describe is typical of a program blocking part of the download. One culprit is a program called Ghostery but it could be any ad or pop up blocker or similar program you have installed.

    Connect itself is working perfectly.

    tried three different computers

    everything worked perfect last week

    only suddenly now not working

if you dont know the answer can anyone else give it a try
  • Were all 3 connected to the same network? Same OS? Via WiFi or cabled? What browsers? Etc etc. If you want help on a forum like this you need to give some detail as crystal balls aren't that reliable.

Better still call Product Support as your particular issue with your systems may require some in depth trouble shooting since Connect is working.
  • My wife and I have the same (blank connect screen after login with no widgets and unresponsive menu buttons). The Android app works fine.

I've just compared running on a fresh Firefox install and my usual Chrome. The Firefox install works. I notice a lot of javascript errors in the chrome version. for example in chrome develop console I see an error loading this script:

    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/main/js/backbone.js?bust=3.4.0.5

    However in Firefox the script

    https://connect.garmin.com/resource/garmin-js-lib/backbone/lib/backbone.js?16.5.0.2

    loads fine.

I suspect there is some caching problem somewhere that is forcing the chrome browser to try to load the "old" site?

Will try clearing caches etc now.
  • So yes clearing "cookies and other site and plugin data" on Chrome appeared to fix it.
  • Actually no. What I thought fixed it had not.

What it actually required was for me to switch every device to use an internet connection that was not my usual home connection and then to force refresh the garmin connect pages in each browser.

I did this basically by using my mobile phone as a wifi hotspot and connect my PC, ipad and mac to to it one by one. Each time I logged in and then did whatever that browser requires to force a refresh of it's own cache.

So basically my ISP had been caching these pages too (I think) which is why all our devices at home were affected (PC, linux laptop, macbook, ipad etc) on Chrome or Safari.

After I clear all items in history record on Chrome, garmin connect modern works again!
On IE, I clear all Browsing History items include the cookies and files associated with websites in my Favorites list(so don't select the Preserve Favorites website data check box), garmin connect modern works again!
