Intensity minutes for Rowing

Using a concept 2 indoor rower, using the erg data app with a chest strap heart rate monitor while also wearing my garmin tactix delta, intensity minutes are not credited for the workout.

The workouts themselves do get into garmin connect, complete with detailed, second by second heart rate data, power numbers, training effect, pace, stroke rate, and time in heart rate zone break down so im wondering why they wouldn't count toward intensity minutes.

  • I think you need to get past how it’s supposed to work.

I am not explaining how it is supposed to work, but how it actually works. Not only for me, but for countless of other users. If it does not work in this way for you, then it means you do something wrong, or do not really understand how it works. If you post the screenshots of the IM settings, and of the all-day HR from the concerned day, then we can perhaps help you better understanding what is wrong in your case.

  • I have been doing a few more rows and checking results. As explained by trux, IM are calculated on the watch, so if I'm not wearing the watch then no IM for the C2 activity - I wear a HR monitor connected to the C2. When I have worn the watch during the row, there is a delay in the IM appearing on the imported row activity. Initially the activity does not show any intensity minutes, but checking back later (usually after an hour or so) the intensity minutes are logged in the activity.

There was a reported issue with the recent update of v18.22 on the Forerunner where high HR values were not being displaying correctly if no activity was being recorded. I think this affected me as one of my rows did not display any IM even though I was wearing the watch. I believe this is fixed in v18.23 and it's now working fine.

Moral of the story - wear the watch (or at least have your HRM connected to the watch) and have a bit of patience before you check the activity.
