Smart notifications not working on Fenix 5 (Wifi)

Hi,

my Garmin Fenix 5 does not display any smart notifications since about two weeks.
The watch connects to my phone (iPhone 6s) without problems and also shows incoming calls.

Any notification of apps/calendar is unfortunately not displayed.

Is anybody facing the same issues and already found a solution?

I already did the following several times:

- Opened Garmin Connect App and removed the watch from the app and removed the watch from bluetooth
- Factory reset the watch
- Logged into Garmin Dashboard and removed watch from there
- Uninstalled Garmin Connect from iPhone
- Rebooted Phone
- Installed Garmin Connect App
- Rebooted watch and went through setup and pairing with the watch

Smart notifications are activated (see attached photo).

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

i just turn off notification and turn on again in my iPhone iOS settings-> notification-> WhatsApp-> notification-> allow notification-> turn off and than turn on!!!!

I don’t know the problem was from here or not , at least I’m still working in this two days!!! but u can try , hope this can help you.

Tried this. Turned off notification for Messages and turned it back on. Then restarted my iPhone. Then restarted my Fenix5. Issue still not resolved. This is driving me crazy. My 2nd Fenix5 and the problem still persists.

Same problem here with Huawei P10 mate (android) and latest firmware (not beta). This watch is going to get returned if this is not resolved soon. This is my second Fenix 5X since the first one started cracking from the HR-sensor (loads of threads here). Has anyone also noticed that the vibration is super low on the watch? The older F5x was much stronger to vibrate.
  • Hi to everybody,
I have the same Problem with a fenix 5S and iPhone X. I get about 10% of all notifications on my fenix, the rest is missing.
Are the already any Solutions to fix this Problem?

    Hi,

I had the same problem but it appeared that the notification setting from the app does not sync to the settings in the fenix watch. After I had set the notification settings on in the (phone) settings menu of the watch itself, the notifications started working again.
  • just set the notification as I did and it should work just fine. The key is to have Show Preview ON for both Connect and WhatsApp. ( I know... it is strange for me too. But I did not find any other solution so far.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1412243.png

This is an old post but I see that someone still had this problem as recent as August and another post with a fix just a few days ago. One fix that I haven't seen posted yet is to check/change some settings in your watch. If you haven't yet, do the following (I don't mean to insult anyone but I'll try and include some basic information in case someone is reading this that is brand new to changing settings in their watch).

-Press and hold the "Menu" button...middle button on the left side of your watch, until it goes to the Menu...which will typically show "Watch Face" first
-Scroll down to "Settings"...using the bottom button on the left
-Press the top button on the right to Select
-Now scroll down to "Phone" using the bottom button on the left and then select with the top button on the right
-Scroll down to "Smart Notifications" using the bottom button on the left and select with the top button on the right
-Make sure "Status" is on...you can toggle between on and off using the top button on the right
-Now you have some choices to make...for "During Activity" and "Not During Activity". The first "During Activity" so if you don't want to see notifications while you are doing some kind of activity...say running or a workout, you can select to not have notifications show while you've activated that activity. The second "Not During Activity" is for when you do not have it in any kind of activity, just using it as your watch and you do or don't want notifications to show...which obviously people that end up here do.
-In either or both of the above you will select them (with the top button on the right) and turn these on if you want to see notifications in that category, and then decide do you want "Calls Only" or "Show All"
-You also have a choice for sounds, vibration, or both that you can select/change with the top button on the right
-Once you've made your changes you back out of all of this with the lower button on the right to your original screen, or it will timeout after a period and revert back to the clock face
Note: if you scroll past something with the lower button on the left, you can go the other direction with the middle button on the left

    Hope this helps

I have Huawei mate 9 as well. Been going through the posting here and finally got hold of something really good. This youtube tutorial is the one that we should be looking at if you have an android phone. The tweak is in the phone itself, which is hidden and hence we never really able to solve it.
    I followed what was recommended,....wallah...

The solution above from user bogdanmoldo helped me. The only issue here is that messages or other notifications would appear on the iPhone screen. But I wonder why everything was working like a charm for the first 24h and then suddenly stopped? Software (both watch and mobile app seem to be delivered with lots of bugs). Unfortunately will have to return mine back to Amazon and get a regular fruit company watch:/

With iPhone go to settings > notifications > desired app >> on ALERTS tick ”Notification Centre” and that’s it. Now notifications for that app should appear on your watch also.
