Garmin Connect Sync on iOS 11

Since I updated to iOS 11, Garmin Connect Mobile no longer syncs with my Garmin Fenix 5S automatically via Bluetooth. I need to open the GC Connect App, and them manually click on the sync button (or do the same on my watch).

Upgraded to iOS 11.1 beta and seems all the issues been handled. At least for the background sync, stable connection and all the smart notifications.
I can see the difference in behavior also on other low-energy Bluetooth devices.

That is good news, now let's wait for the user version... thanks for the update!

Same problem here. With iPhone 7 iOS 11 (and also 11.0.1) and fenix 3 HR, the smartwatch functionality doesn't work anymore and the Connect-App doesn't recognize the watch, even if in the bluetooth settings the watch is listed with status connected... Come on, Garmin, that is shameful!!! I mean, iOS is not some small OS, that can be ignored!!!!
Update 10.10.17: Since last week the sync is working again. (iOS 11.0.2, Garmin Connect 3.22.3)
Update 10.10.17, the second: Today I updated the Connect app to 3.22.4 and now again it isn't working...
  • Same issue. 735XT and iPhone 6 iOS 11.0.1. Have to close the Connect App and reload it periodically. Turning off BT and on doesn't seem to work for me. Really annoying.
BTW Smart notifications don't require Connect to be running which is why messages, calls etc still show. As long as the device is connected via to the phone those BT alerts will work.

Read your comment and updated to 11.1 to test it, and background sync still not working.

I am guessing he means re-pair, as in a new attempt to pair the devices, as opposed to repairing as in fixing ;-)

Of course (feeling rather stupid right now) ... :)
  • Still no automatic background syncs for me.
  • I wonder why more people aren't reporting this? Well, whatever!

I've called Garmin twice in the last week about this issue. I'm running iOS 11.0.1 on an iPhone 8. I wear the Approach X40. Everything seems to be syncing except for the weather app. We fixed it by removing and reinstalling the device on Garmin Connect. But it is only stable for a short while, and then it stops syncing again. I'm also using GC beta, so I'm not sure if maybe that's the problem, but I'm guessing not.

But that's really not acceptable. The techie said he was going to research this to see if it has something to do with the latest iOS release, which is probably the case. I told him that others are having his issue and that it's documented on this forum.
