My phone got upgraded to Android14 recently. Since then the Music widget no longer works (on any Garmin device).
Any ideas?

The Music Control on Garmin devices works with the last used music player on the phone, so I would try starting a player on your phone, and then test whether it can be controlled by the watch. If not, try restarting the phone, and repeat.
I know how it is supposed to work... And it doesn't since Android14. The widget doesn't detect that a music player is started, and thus nothing can be controlled.
It's the same on all my Garmin devices (watch & Edge bike computer).
Did you try several different music players? If not, I'd give it a try.
Yes. I use Musicolet, but have tried AIMP, Omnia and Pulsar. All the same behavior.
Must be caused by how Android14 handles local music players.
The widget still works with streaming apps, like Spotify and YTMusic.
Can you control those apps with the controls on your headphones?
Yes... and as mentioned I could also do this on my Garmin devices... up to the moment the phone got upgrade to Android14.
So, after the upgrade to Android 14 it still works to control the music from the headphones?
Does it work to control from the watch if the phone is unlocked?
Yes, I can control the music from my headphones but don't really see the relevance. The headphone control uses direct bluetooth communication.
The widget uses Garmin Connect to control music.
Doesn't make any difference whether the phone is locked or not. Or whether the music app is running in the foreground or not.
Widget never works. No song title or progress is shown.
How the music is controlled in Android should be the same way. The watch is also using bluetooth. I don't know if Garmin Connect is part of controlling the music. It can be implemented in several ways but the command to the OS is the exact same.
It's not the same. Headphones don't need to show song title and times for example.
As mentioned, the widget uses Garmin Connect to communicate. Yes over BT, but that is just the communication protocol.
