Safety Features Setup Fails with "Invalid Phone Number" Error

Hi there,

As of updating my Forerunner 945 to SW version 12.0 (possibly happened before 12.0, but didn't notice), I can no longer seem to setup safety features on my 945 via the Android Connect app. When starting the app, I am prompted to setup safety features, but when I try to complete the setup, I get to the screen that asks for my Name, City, and State; when I enter this info and click next I get an error message "Invalid Phone Number: The phone number provided is invalid. Please review and correct that number to save updates to your information.". The thing is, I was never asked to enter a phone number. I've reached out to Garmin support, but no resolution after a couple of weeks.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Hi, put spaces between number groups. Weird but it does solve the problem! :)

Where do I even input a phone number? There is no option or prompt to enter a phone number anywhere in the connect app

See if it can be in your Garmin Account: https://www.garmin.com/account/profile/

I've set my phone number there.

I reentered my phone number at the link you provided with spaces between the number groups, but I am still seeing the Invalid Phone Number error in Connect

I've entered my number like this:

I skipped the area code and got no spaces in the number.

Yea exact same issue.

The App fpr some reason does not have a place to input the number.

Cleared data, Deleted/reinstalled app, tried garmin express, verified all permissions, reset watch, verified all account .

Simply, The App does not have a place for a phone number input, Thats the problem. I figured it out but Garmin Support is still lost. Is it a phone compatability issue (pixel6a and forerunner 265) I have no idea. I am sure it will take months for the garmin to fix the issue so, I just requested a refund.

Strange. Not having any issues with this. Never had to enter my phone number in Garmin Connect. It's already listed in my Garmin profile, as e7andy pointed out - Garmin International | Account | Profile

Glad to hear it worked for you. My number is also correct in my garmin profile. Trust me, it is happening.

Did Garmin ask for a Diagnostic Report from the app?

I just emailed the developers with the issues I had. Included the screenshot. It was another screenshot that I saw there is a phone number input box for setting up the incident emergency reporting.
