what does error code 401 when trying to connect with Strava routes

when trying to connect with Strava routes I get the 401 error code. how do I remedy this?

Finally solved this! Within the Garmin Connect app go:

Menu > Garmin devices > select your device > Activities, Apps & More > Activities & Applications

Press 'Update' on Strava Routes…

Did you have any luck with this? same is happening to me. (no update button) this is the only reason why i bought a Garmin edge for the live segments

The Strava Routes app is no longer supported. Here's the new way to sync Strava Routes without the app:

New to this thread but found it searching for a solution to the same error code having exhausted the other proposed fixes. The above link instructions did the trick - thanks so much! The missing piece of the jigsaw is having to star the routes in Strava or if already starred, unstar and re-star and then sync again between head unit and Garmin connect. Also, instinct is to look for your routes in the IQ widget on your head unit (which has a link to Strava routes) but they appear in courses in the navigation widget.
