issue pairing bluetooth huawei p8lite 2017 and garmin fenix 5x

After last garmin connect mobile updates I had connectivity issues. I have reinstalled garmin connect and now I can not pair my fenix 5x to the huawei p8 lite 2017 smartphone. During pairing phase, codes are continuously generated without completing the connection. On google store play reviews, many users complain about this issue with huawei smartphones after the latest garmin connect updates.
I PURCHASED HUAWEI P8 LITE AFTER HAVE VERIFIED COMPATIBILITY WITH FENIX 5X ON THE GARMIN WEBSITE !!!

Luckily my P8 was a week old. Swapped for a Sony L1. Worked straight away.
  • Same issue, P9Lite and Forerunner 235....

I have the same issue pairing Huawei Honor with Fenix 3. but I'm pretty sure it doesn't depend on the kind of Garmin piece -- its all about Android OS. User should tap the key field to bring the virtual keyboard on screen and this event triggers another key generation -- unlike the iOS which brings whole key form interface with keyboard.

I had the same problem with my Huawei Mediapad M3 (phablet with same hardware base as P9) and Vivoactive 3. Worked fine until the update to 4.0.6, then impossible to sync/pair.
Solved by uninstalling GCM and download an "old" 4.0.5 APK (easy to find via Google). Pairing/connection went immediately back to normal.
I won't reinstall the latest version from Google Play before I'm sure the issue is fixed.

    Same issue with both Huawei P8 lite 2017 and P9 lite OS 7.0 + Garmin 230 fw 7.5 + GCM 4.0.7
  • Same issue with Honor 7 lite (android 7) and Forerunner735xt - contacted Garmin Finland and they first told me to check if Bluetooth is enabled :p

After a few messages, I finally got the this answer:

"It's certainly possible that the latest updates have temporarily violated bluetooth compatibility

For some of the customers, the upgrade has not broken the connection, we will correct the issue to our best"
  • I managed to connect Forerunner and Honor 7 (android 7) Lite directly from the phones bluetooth settings. I had to enter the pass code several times and still both the clock and the phone telling me that the pairing failed - although at last the clock was "paired". However, GCM (4.07) did not find the clock. After a couple of hours, the clock beeps that connection was established, and when I looked at the GCM application, the clock was paired and sync worked.

Warum muss mann immer verdummbessern?
