Battery drain from bluetooth

Since last week I am seeing substantial battery drain on my Xperia M2 and the power management 'app' says that it is almost all (82%) due to bluetooth. It does not say what is requesting the bluetooth. I cannot yet identify the cause, so cannot say that GC is causing it but GC Mobile Android looks like it got updated last week and is my heaviest user of BlueTooth (to my Fenix 3 and VSHR) - is anyone else suffering from serious battery drain since about the end of January?

when is this going to be fixed :(

All of the bluetooth drain in the attached screenshot is caused by GCM. In both the following scenarios I have no drain problems
    • BlueTooth off
    • GCM not started since power-up
  • Hate to jump in with a "me too", but me too.

    I've got 3.7.0.3 and an X40 connected to S6

Battery usage app attributes the majority of usage to "Android OS" with apparently permanent stay awake but without Connect, no problem.

This is a serious issue for me as I'm frequently away from charging facilities and can't afford for to have a 6 hour battery life.
    Very disappointing.

Same issue here. Having a Nexus 6p and a Fenix 3, everything with the latest software.

The issue usually occur when Android OR Garmin connect is upgraded, the phone is in a wake lock for 3-4 days and then the lock releases. Reboot does not help, only thing that helps is to uninstall Garmin Connect or disable bluetooth.

In which case, as general risk mitigation treatment, wouldn't you carry one or more external ‘power pack’ batteries and charging cable for your phone, irrespective of whether you have your Garmin devices with you?
  • Another me too :(

Draining my battery like crazy...Galaxy S6, latest GCM, vivoactive HR.
  • New X40 user. The android Connect Mobile is killing my battery on my S4 mini running 4.4.2. I can't even "force close" the app. I've turned off all notifications and weather to the X40 and yet Garmin Connect Mobile keeps running. This is unacceptable and I've written help for support. I'm disappointed to see this issue has been around for a while.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Garmin Connect App and it seemed to fix the battery drain issue.

Any other solutions? This is not working for me(nexus 5x, GC 3.9)

Try calling Garmin. After I uninstalled and reinstalled on my S4 mini I had no issues. I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S7 and no issues with battery drain at all and it's a much more reliable connection so far. FYI-- I don't have any notifications or weather turned on between the X40 and phone.
