Let's sync Garmin data to Health Connect and google fit apps.

Currently, you can sync through other non-reputable data providers like Health Sync https://play.google.com/store/search?q=health+sync&c=apps&hl=en&gl=US but this is bad.

It would be great if Garmin supported a google fit or Health Connect app:

  • I'm glad I found this discussion before buying one of Garmin's products! Come to find out, the company charges a license fee to developers who want to provide an app that integrates with data from Garmin Connect, so clearly their decision to not support Health Connect is purely profit driven. Additionally, Health Connect data is stored locally on the device, compared to Garmin Connect that stores data in their cloud (allowing them to use private health data for purposes that benefit them). I'm not interested in supporting companies who prioritize profits over customers, so this is a hard pass for me. Thanks the heads-up everyone!

  • paging some Garmin people who were active recently

Also OP can you unmark this as solved? Because it isn't

  • You can install Health Sync and it will sync Garmin to google fit and health connect. 2.99 for a lifetime subscription. Works really well!

  • It only syncs in one direction though. So you can't have a different devices data sync to Garmin's app

  • Thanks for this tip. I have this app for almost habe a year. It works quite well, but only for certain apps in certain directions. I'm still disappointed that there is no native solution and customers have to buy third party apps. This issue should be handled by Garmin directly in my opinion. (I'm happy that Health Sync exists, so my frustration is not referring to them.)

  • Garmin should sync with Health Connect. Not doing so is akin to when Blackberry C level execs were not using their own products for voice comms and dictating memos to their secretaries. You all remember how big Blackberry was, don't you? Get with the flow or someone else will. Too big to fail is a fantasy.
