Multi Angle edit with Edit and 2 virbs

Hi, thanks for your help in advance.
I did this once successfully but can no longer get it to work.
When you use two camera's to record a clip in the same location as the same time and length edit should recognize it as a multi angle view. When you edit the video you can automatically choose and switch angles. I did this 3 weeks ago but can not get it to work anymore. Garmin support claims the option may have been removed?

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. It appears this may have been removed on the current version. I have been unable to find any steps or any way to do this within Virb Edit to use this function. A really good place to go for information on the Virb Edit program is https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?426-VIRB-Edit. Our developers do monitor this site and answer questions regarding the program. There is also a suggestion thread. I am very sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us further.

This is how it is advertised (still today) at http://virb.garmin.com/en-US/virb-xe
multi camera synchronization
VIRB X and VIRB XE simplifies complicated multi-camera shots by automatically synchronizing footage with sub-frame accuracy using Garmin GPS timestamps. Use VIRB Edit to seamlessly switch between multiple camera angles with the click of a button, eliminating time-consuming realignment and time codes

Support teamviewed into my laptop and showed me how to do it previously. Once you add the clip a window pops up telling you you have a similar clip and it asks you to add it to the video creation to turn on multi angle edit. Once you do so you can fade in and out of views by splitting the feed, each feed can be from a different angle.
Now a couple of weeks later this pop up no longer comes up with the same clip and not with new similar clips either.

Any suggestions or could it be true that the feature has been removed but still advertised? I wonder why, it worked great! I have called support several times but it seems I was lucky the first time because the other techs claim to not be able to support this feature yet as is new.....
THANKS!

    Hello,
I worked on this feature and it is definitely still in 3.1. The plans are for more Multicam support, not less. I have a couple of ideas as to why you may be unable to get the feature to work.

We have limitations initially on handling videos with overlapping timestamps and durations, so they really need to start and end at virtually the same time when they are created. You didn’t state which exact Virb camera you have. We intend users to have Virb X/XE cameras and use a mobile app to start and stop the camera synchronously. This would virtually guarantee that the videos will be detected as part of a multicam group once they have been imported. However, we have had success making these videos manually with Elites and X/XE cameras (as it sounds like you did).

So, if you are having trouble making new videos that will be detected as multicam try being very precise on starting and stopping them together. To ensure that both cameras have the same internal time, make sure they both have GPS sync and it might even be a good idea to restart them so they have a fresh sync.
If you had two clips that were detected together before, and they are still in your library, they should be detected again and give you the option to set your project up with multicam editing every time. If this isn’t happening I suggest navigating to your database file at C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2\RawMovies and deleting the “rmindex.vmi” file. This is used to detect multicam groups and will be rebuilt when it goes missing on the next start up.

Sorry you are having trouble, and I hope some of these suggestions allow you to use the feature. Again, there are plans to make all of this much easier.
    Thanks!

Thank you very much for the advice.
The clips are no longer there. I should have kept them but they were just meant as a test...
I used the Virb XE and the Virb Elite and yes I started and stopped them by using the remote pair with a the virb app on my smart phone.
I will delete the vmi file and I will restart the process. Many thanks

    Dear Burlon,
thanks again. I have deleted the vmi file, checked both cameras are on automatic time zone, restarted them both. Both have GPS on (is this what you mean by GPS sync).
I recorded 2 new clips, 1 on each, at the same time with the remote.
When I import (in create video) 1 or the other or both the multi cam view does not come up.
    Should I reinstall virb edit?
    Thanks for your assistance.

    ISSUE SOLVED
Many thanks for your support. When I tested over and over again the footage I used was recorded inside (no GPS data). Once I tried again with footage recorded outside it worked.
    Much appreciated Burlon
