VIRB Edit: Automatically Capture Still Images from Video

Good Day

The VIRB Elite is truly a remarkable product.

Are there a way / setting that you can automatically capture a still image (via VIRB Edit) from the video when your vehicle (cycle, car, skateboard) reaches a specific speed?

Driving a couple of kilometres and capturing video data, it would be great to automatically obtain still images if the speed is reduced to say 0km/h, i.e. complete stand still. This will allow instant reasons (images) of why a STOP occurred on a specific route.

Or even 30km/h to view why reduction in speed.

Thanx
  • This isn't possible today, but stay tuned...

Can you elaborate a bit on how and why you'd like this feature?

    Hi cvarley

I am using the VIRB for play as well as work.

During play sessions, Mountain Biking, we travel downhill, sharp turn, etc and sudden turns or stops (change of specific speed) the still images (photos) is used to create a map and “alert points” in the brochure.

For work, I mount it in the car, and where traffic reduce speed we can see if it was due to congestion (vehicle queues) or in mountain areas where heavy vehicles drive slow it can show where claiming lanes or buy-pass lanes are required.

The current process is viewing of the video (with speed gauge overlay), pause and capture. Automation of the process will be GREAT!

    I will definitely stay tuned!
    Thanks
