What can you do with your Virb, Virb Edit and the Fly6 rear camera?

Well its a year + later since I bought my Virb and finally with the newest Virb Edit it is all working to a professional level. Kudos to Garmin to hanging in there.

:D

Would you like to be able to produce a 1 hour HD video, with external sound over; in bottom left corner, show simultaneous 1/4 size video from Fly6 rear view; at top overlay HD quality telemetry from Virb Edit output using greenscreen. Use OpenShot video production software to edit all this - sync it all up flawlessly.

Here is it all working!

1) Virb snow, ice, mud ride - handlebar mount - rocking image stabilization and outstanding HD video quality.
2) Fly6 rear video footage
3) Telemetry of ride from Virb Edit using greenscreen overlay exported to HD high quality
4) OpenShot video production software

This is what I had in mind would be possible when I bought the Virb - and now it is - happy happy!

One nit - the telemetry from GPS on Virb seems to have "moments" during the ride in the middle of the woods - but then satellite reception is likely challenged. Virb Edit could do a better job of spotting these "gaps" and picking up again.

Overall the entertainment value is there however. Next - need to hook the cadence sensor back onto my Trek Cronus CX bike - right now its on my trainer for my roller rides (well it is winter!)

    Thanks for sharing!

We are also planning to add export of transparent PNG sequences of just the overlays (without the video). That should make it easier to import this into other video editing software, if you need a little more control.
  • OK! Transparent overlay would be fabulous and save one step for sure.
