Importing Garmin 810 FIT File in Virb Edit - Missing Data

First ride with my Virb Elite this morning, it all worked fine over the course of a 2 hour ride.

However, when I've imported the 5 video files into Virb Edit, I've hit a problem. I've "Removed" the Virb Elite GPS Track and "Added" my Garmin 810 FIT track which includes Cadence, HR, Power etc. On the 1st and 5th file it shows the Power/Cadence data perfectly, and synchronisation is also fine (used Remote Start from 810), or at least it's not out of sync enough for me to notice, so happy with all of that.

But on Video Files 2-4 the Power and Cadence disappear completely leaving the dials "empty" for that portion of the video. They come back again in Video File 5 though? Something is not working somewhere, any ideas whether its "user error" or a known issue?

However, playing around a bit with it, I have gone back in and for Video Files 2-4, I have "Replaced" the file for Videos 2, 3 and 4 to add my 810 FIT file again, and that seems to have worked, still appears to be sync'd. Is that the way it is supposed to work? Do you have to replace each file with the 810 FIT file? Why did it originally have it ok for File 1 and 5? Hope all this makes sense?

I thought, regardless of the number of Video Clips I had, it would just allow me to add one FIT file to cover all Video Files, but apparently not?

Confused,

Dex.

I don't have FIT data, but what I did understand was that for each clip the data should be linked (and synchonized) seperately. Maybe that if you have a long clip and attach the FIT, than use "Split" to make 2 parts you don't have to but I can't test that.

Thanks, yes it seems like you are correct, you appear to have to sync each video file with the FIT file, although it appears to automatically sync so its not too much of a hassle.

Now I'm getting an Export error as I try to export the file, but seems like others in the forum are also having the same issue. Virb Edit seems a bit glitchy! Hopefully they can fix soon.

  • Finally managed to Export the file after trying several times over the last few hours. However, although my Power Data shows up in Virb Edit, it doesn't show up in the Exported file!

    Oh dear.......

    Dex,

I apologize for the trouble. VIRB Edit 2.2.3 will be released very soon. This will fix power data not showing up in the exported video, as well as a number of other export issues.

One bug that 2.2.3 does not fix is that on Windows 7 VIRB Edit can only export videos up to a size of 4 GB. So if you try to export a really long video in high resolution this is likely going to fail on Windows 7. Windows 8 does not have this restriction. We are working on a fix for that issue as well.

    Again, my apologies.
