VIRB Edit does not work if you enable Windows 10 "ransomware" protection

As I just discovered today you should not enable Windows 10 (build 1902) ransomware protection. VIRB Edit fails either with a permissions error on start (which is what gave me the clue) or worse, it starts and then imports and stitching of raw footage fails with generic errors.

  • This is true. You have to exclude the executable, manually.

From my findings, I deactivated that tool. Firstly it was okay and I enhanced the list with all tools I´m using. But also several Windows-Tools were not working. And quite often, there have been programs, which were using other applications or were dependend. It was impossible to find the right executable to exclude, to make it work.
If you cant natively use the paint or the screenshot-tool, it´s time to throw that protection-thing away.

And I´m not having many programs installed on my machine Slight smile And I´m an IT professional Smiley
