Exporting Photos in Facebook-compatible format

Trying to figure out how to export a 360 photo from VIRB Edit in a format that is Facebook-compatible. FB has a web page all about 360 ( https://facebook360.fb.com/learn/ ) listing the VIRB as one of the supported cameras. But I can't figure out how to get there. The route that seemed obvious to me was exporting from VIRB Edit to Photos, then uploading that JPEG to FB. But apparently it doesn't have the right metadata, because I just get the flattened image on FB. Maybe there's some other export path? Stumped . . .
  • Finally figured this out. The answer buried in the FB pages on 360 photos. https://facebook360.fb.com/editing-360-photos-injecting-metadata/

I can't figure out how to export of out VIRB Edit directly to a file - there is no normal "Save' or "Save as ..." - only "share". And the only useful option there is to export to Photos app. That process strips off all the metatags and adds Apple-related info. You have to use Photoshop or a tool like exiftool to put back the tags.

    exiftool -ProjectionType="equirectangular" my_photo.jpg

Then FB recognizes it as a 360 photo. Wow - what a mess - primarily because VIRB Edit doesn't have a decent way to save the photos.
  • I am having a similar issue. I want to use Google Tour Creator for my classroom and I can't because there is no way to export a photo in the proper format. I am getting Photospheres must have a 2:1 aspect ratio. Omnistereo panoramas must have a 1:1 aspect ratio. I believe it's because you can't export a stitched photo. I am so upset.
