Hello.
I'm the captain, sea captain. I want to make a reliable navigation system on my ship. But I don't understand anything in electronic navigation systems. I feel comfortable with a paper map and compass in hand. Please, clear to me this is a hi-tech fog. I have a rugged tablet PC IP67 waterproof standard, I want to know what software I should use and what format of map should I buy? I installed the Garmin HomePort but I can't find settings to connect with the built-in my PC the GPS module or configuration to connect other external GPS equipment. Tell me, can I supply a GPS device to a PC and use with the software HomePort? GPS routing with a HomePort on a PC, is that possible? Can I connect the GPS-mouse and charting GPS track through a HomePort? What is ActiveCaptain service? Is there a software product from Garmin that works with meteorological data such as NAVTEX files or GRIB files?
Six small questions and a great desire to understand what to do. I hope for your competence and professional guide for me.
Regards, seaman.
