Unable to send workouts to my Edge 800 via Garmin Connect

OK, so Thursday night the Garmin Connect website seemed to have completely crashed. It was back up and running last night however I have been trying unsuccesfully for the past 12 hours to send a workout I created to my Edge 800.
What happens is that I click send to device, the send to device blue box opens however there is no text or information in it. It just hangs there & needless to say the workout does not end up on my device. I have tried both Safari & Chrome on my Macbook & neither works.

As far as I can see Garmin Express is connected to my 800 (I even removed & added it back again to see if that would help). The 800 itself it accepting data--I was able to drag and drop a GPX file from Strava into it and the course showed up on the unit as usual.

Anyone else experience this & have a fix?

Merry Christmas!

When I try to send something to my device the following error appears on the browser control:

    "TypeError: LocaleMapper is undefined SendToDevicePageView.js:205"

I don't know if this could be useful for solving this problem.

    Regards

This is the code instruction that doesn't work in SendToDevicePageView.js:

    " LocaleMapper.formatHelpStartForExpressionEngine(this.userLocale);"

This is an evident bug error in the software of the Garmin Connect JS class.

Just for the record I've now reinstalled Java and also installed chrome which I've never needed to do before and neither works, it still just hangs on the same browser page not offering either of my devices as options to download to. This is a fairly important function of Garmin Connect not to work........

Thank you Jason How can I send you the GarminDevice.XML file ? By email ?
  • BILGIN.

You can just post it here. There is not any information in the XML that is sensitive.

  • If this was an error with the javascript code on the page then it would effect every user. Has anybody tried deleting the device from Garmin Express and Garmin Connect then adding it back again? I am able to send a workout and course to an Edge 800, Forerunner 910XT, and a Forerunner 310XT from all three browsers on a Mac 10.10.1.

How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?

Same problem here, blank Send to device window and no workout is sent to my Forerunner 310XT, worked before. I bought it two months ago and it's now almost worthless.

    Please note the following:

    - I'm a technical Web developer and manager with 15+ years of experience, I know this stuff.
    - The errors reported in the console are Javascript and not Java, users can stop updating Java since that's not relevant.
    - I tried on my Mac with both Safari and Firefox, both clean installs, no plugins, no adblock, nothing could be interfering right now.
    - The fact that this doesn't affect all users doesn't mean it cannot be the website being broken, it just means you are not able to replicate the issue on your side.
    - There's definitely something wrong in the JS code even if the bug is hit only under some conditions.
    - I deleted and added back my Forerunner 310XT in both Express and Connect, no luck.
    - Even if delete+add worked, this is an unacceptable user experience and means something's broken in your code. It just has to work.

Now I understand this is end of the year and what have you. Fixing bugs and making releases is a pain in the neck. BUT this is also the period when people leverage their holidays to train and that's currently broken for me, I do complex workouts and no way I'm going to input those on the Forerunner.

I'll keep an eye on this to see if you can fix it very very quickly. Otherwise I'll start looking elsewhere.
  • I'm also having a very similar problem trying to Send Courses to my device. I have an Edge 810.

Working on OS 10.7.5 on Safari. Device is connecting to Express fine, also showing as a device on connect but when I click Send to Device the box just appears blank with no message. No "can't find the device" or anything. Literally just the Send to device header box and then white nothingness. Tried on modern and classic.

Have tried the fixes mentioned above to no avail. Please help

Thank you for your support, I tried everything (deleting the device, clear cookies, checked security options etc.) but still the problem remains. When I try to upload a workout or other data to the 910XT appears just an empty window box and nothing happens.
I don't know what else I could try...
I hope that garmin can fix this bug as soon as possible.
    Regards.
  • It doesn't appear that anyone here having this issue is in the United States (please correct me if I am wrong). Since the javascript error that is being thrown is related to the user's locale, I would bet that this is why we cannot duplicate the issue here in the US. It would be best to contact Product Support by phone in the country that you are in so that we can troubleshoot the issue and open a case if necessary.
