New purchased map not showing in Garmin Express

I bought a Nuvi 2699 in Europe, with life time maps and life time digital traffic. So far all is good. Mid June I bought the North American maps, life time. I guess downloaded (and installed?) these on an extra SD card using the browser account managment interface (nothing was said about having to use Garming Express). The maps worked fine.

BUT
a) the North American maps do not show up in the list of installed maps when using Garming Express and,
b) I can not load the map on to my PC for use with BaseCamp when my device is not attached. Only the European maps are on my PC so far.

Can someone explain how I can manage and use my NA maps the same way I manage my European maps?
