Garmin Express won't sync with Forerunner 405

I've downloaded Garmin Express 3.2.9.0

I've got the ANT stick plugged in.

The Forerunner is not syncing automatically to Garmin Connect. (It stopped doing so on 17 June, at the same time as it stopped allowing Sporttracks to import from it)

I cannot click on 'sync now' in Garmin Express since there is no live link there.

Garmin Express says there is a Forerunner 405 and that its software is up to date, but when I try to 'add new device' it says it can't find one.

Is there any way out of this, or do I have to wait until Garmin sort themselves out?

I was having a similar issue with 305. I had the sync manager for my android (HTC) phone on the computer too. This created a conflict. I removed the HTC sync software and presto, forerunner was instantly recognised!

I'm having a different but related problem. I just got new computer and I'm trying to get my FR405 to pair and upload data via Garmin Express. Since this is a new computer, Ant Agent has never been installed. When I try to pair, nothing happens -- my FR is never found. I've verified settings on the watch and Pairing is On, and I've even tried to Force Send.
