I upgraded to the modern Garmin Connect and need Express to upload workouts from my Forerunner 220. Halfway through the initializing phase of the installation it stops and says "Failed.Try again?" it never works.
I have a new HP Windows 8.1 PC and have tried everything in this thread and I get the 'Failed. Try Again?' message. I have no way to upload my fit files to Garmin Connect. I am a little fed up reading the moderator comments on these threads.. there is obviously a fundamental problem with the installation package if it doesn't work on a bog standard new Windows 8.1 machine. No other software I have installed on this machine has failed, so it's a bit poor for Garmin to say "well millions of others have installed it OK". The only suggestions are to (1) deactivate the anti-virus (I use Norton) - DONE! (b) check the security update has not been installed - IT HASN'T. I am not updating a previous installation, so no Garmin Core Update Service. Nothing works. What shall I do? I have worked in software / IT for 20 years so I am not a numpty.
Should I just just not use Garmin Connect. Tell everyone just to use Strava instead?
Try calling Product Support. They can access your PC remotely to determine the problem. If you are using wifi try cabling directly if you can to rule out any wifi issues. Express installed without issue on my Win8.1 notebook.
Don't get misled by the fact you have a 'bog standard new machine'. A while back I had a 'bog standard new Toshiba' that refused to work with Garmin's Basecamp program. Bit of investigation and I found gamers were having issues also, it was traced to Toshiba installing incorrect video drivers.
I was trying to install Garmin 3.2.26 on numerous devices with Windows XP SP3 , Windows 7, Windows 8.1 ( in total 4 devices) and on each device it failed to install. And as I see this problem occurs for a long time, and there is no solution for it yet. I have never found any program which would have problem to install on any device if it is software for their own devices. I seriously doubt that millions of users dont have this problem, if i am UNABLE to install it on any computer. P.S.: Was trying numerous solutions from here, none of them works.
Yet I've never had an issue installing Express onto any PC and I've been doing it for years. Might help us identify your problem if you explain what you've done and a bit more about your system and any error messages. What speed is your ISP? Are you trying over wifi or via cable? When you say it 'failed to install' ... what happened? Any error message?
Internet connection 250/100 Mbit/s , i Do not think this should be a problem. I was trying 2 devices on cable and 2 on Wifi ( notebooks) . No error message just in 3 secs will appear Failed. Try again? .
P.S.: The same problem as you post a link in your 2nd post. So it seems the problem is on your site. I hope it will be fixed as soon as possible.
I had the same issue and tried all of the various fixes suggested in the previous threads. I was installing onto my desktop PC running Windows 8.1 using the latest version of Express from the Garmin web site, which was V3.2.26.0. I had previously installed Express onto my laptop, which has the same operating system without any issues, so wondered if it was a version issue. As a result I downloaded Express V3.2.21.0 from lo4d.com and it worked first time.
We have just released a new version of Garmin Express to resolve this issue. Any earlier versions of express will no longer install due to changes with the required Microsoft components. You can download the latest version here:
