Map installation on nüvi 2475LT leftovers

Last October I had a problem trying to install a map on my nuvi 2475LT and I got great advice from SUSSAMB here on how to fix the problem (Ref 5907739 if that is any help). Now I tried to install an updated map and I encountered the same problem as before. I think I have it solved now but I thought that the problem should not happen again.

Anyway, I find after updating the SD card in the .System folder there is a file .express. I don't know if I should delete it or copy it over to the nuvi. There is also a SQLite folder with a file in the .System folder and, again, I don't know if I should leave it on the SD card or move it to the nuvi, or just delete it.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

  • For some reason I can't reply using the online version. Anyway, I was a bit silly thinking a reset would take the maps back to the originals.

I changed the nuvi to Mass Storage Mode and the utilities you mentioned worked perfectly. Device manager found all the information and flagged that a file, D1074000M.img was a Time Zone map and stated "it resides in wrong directory" I had a look at the unit using Windows Explorer and it shows up there a a Disc image file of 584KB. Should I delete it?
Should I also leave the nuvi in the Mass Storage Mode? I tried again downloading the North American map but got the same failure message though this time it took much longer than other efforts.
  • I always leave mine in mass storage mode as it makes it easier to do what I want when I want to, but entirely up to you.  I'll send you a PM shortly to try and help with the NA map.

  • The Device Manager allowed me to rename the file and also to view the maps and it would seem the whole of North America is there. It seems the naming of the file just took the first map, Alaska, etc., as the title for the whole file.

  • Great, no need to reply to my PM then :)

  • I did reply but not sure if I got the file loaded correctly.

  • Yep, got that thanks and now replied. Hopefully the NA map now works for you.
