It seems that the lines only appear in the print preview / setup window. When the page is actually printed the lines don't appear on paper. If that's the case I don't really see the problem.

Yes, I just checked this. There is a separate set of check boxes just for what shows up on the printout under Page Setup. Just uncheck Grid Lines and whatever else you don't want. If you then do a print preview, the grid doesn't show and neither does it on the printout. One other thing that is a bit confusing is that on the Print Setup page, the overview map shows whether or not you have unchecked it, but it does not on the preview or the printout.
