Post here if you have questions.

The non-English language version of the software will be available through the in-application software update check shortly.

Please post any bugs you may find here.

Thank you all in advance for any feedback you may have.
  • Same problem with the "registry error" on windows 8.1/64. If I drag the route to the device nothing happens at all. If I try to use the right-click/Send to and select the Montana is when the crash happens.

Windows 7/64 seems to work OK.

Seems like another Friday software release. "Lets throw it over the wall and go home for the weekend".
    Oh, well.

    Avoidances

I believe some devices support avoidance's. I don't know which ones or if BaseCamp will transfer them.

MapSource supports area avoidance's as well. IMO the feature is useless unless your device(s) support them and they can be transferred. If routes are recalculated anyway what's the point?

I agree with the above post, that the avoidance feature in BaseCamp is a useless unless the avoidances can be transferred to your device.

Thank you for the suggestion. An uninstall/reinstall did not fix the issue. I also have a Windows 7 laptop. Tried an install - same problem. I did an uninstall/reinstall on the Windows 7 machine - no help, same error and same result. I went ahead and logged it as a problem with the Garmin support team.

Windows 7; Just installed Basecamp version 4.4.1 and now get a 'Basecamp has encountered an error accessing the Windows registry' 'contact Garmin support' when I try to send a route to the NAV 5 GPS. Uninstalled and then reinstalled and same problem. What to do????
  • hi, where are stored the waypoints on basecamp (folder)?

    same problem win2 7/x64

I have the same problem. Updated by the software itself, give me the same error ...

I "fix it" by copying by hand directly on the device the gpx. What a shame...

I have the same problem. Trying to send waypoint to Nüvi Basecamp crashes with error message "cannot access windows registry". Version 4.4.1 and windows 7.
How can I install the previous version.
I need urgent to send data to device.

I have just updated my 3597 to firmware 4.50 and Basecamp 4.4.1 and have the same problem on Win7

Cannot download a route to GPS

I downloaded BaseCamp 4.4.1. When an attempt is made to download a route, an error pop-up screen occurs that says "BaseCamp has encountered an error accesssing the Window's Registry. Please contact BaseCamp Support..... When you exit out of the error popup window, BaseCamp closes.

This is on a Windows 8.1 system.

Anyone else encountering this error, and if so, any solutions?

Same problem here, you think Garmin Support/Software would have seen these posts and showed some concern that as soon as they put something out it doesn't work with Windows 8.1 and provided a FIX!!!!
  • Patience guys, it's the weekend. The basecamp developers frequent here a lot, I'm sure they'll comment on Monday ...
  • I don't think it's about patience as it is more about frustration. Implementing software best practices and performing regression testing would never have allowed the Win 8.1 issue to occur.
This issue is especially frustrating in that the prime function of Basecamp is to move a route or other data to/from a GPSr device. Without that ability you have a pretty useless piece of software.
I've just returned from a rather long trip using my Montana and have a rule that I never update software on the road. So I'm not concerned that the fix may take a few days. If I had run into this issue on the road due to a botched update then I'd have a patience issue.

I hope that the aviation side of Garmin software development is run at a different level.
    Just my opinion.
