Doesn't work unfortunately, and the option of replacing this laptop with a Windows 8 one fills me with such horror I'll make do. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Hiya - I've looked into this tonight.

My laptop's configuration screens also seems to indicate that the C660 has Intel hardware & Intel drivers. So, that doesn't seem to be the problem. I'll ask my nephew - our IT specialist :) - to look into it, when he has a moment.

The whole thing did get me thinking, though ... Spent the evening now to re-install BaseCamp on my desktop pc (not a Toshiba, but has Intel hardware & Win 7 onboard).
And BaseCamp now does seem to be free of a number of issues now. Exporting a route & such even works - those functions *never* succeeded on the laptop... Seems I'll make do with the desktop pc from here on.

Too bad that I've lost mobility now, though - hope we can see a version of BaseCamp working on the laptop again in the future. But for now, I've removed the lot & relocated the entire thing to my stationairy pc - on the upside, I seem to have gained a fair amount of functionality, I couldn't use prior. Also worth something.

Really hoping this will solve the issues, now.

    Thanks for the help! :)
  • Yes, it does have Intel hardware etc, the problem is that in their wisdom Toshiba also installed ATI drivers on their 660 range even though they're not needed ... and they are the issue. Hopefully your nephew will be able to sort it :)

If he googles it he'll see all sorts of reference to it, normally the problem affects games etc being played on the Toshiba Satellite range, but it also screws up Basecamp.
  • There was an error calculating this route

I have Windows 8.1 running on a Dell XPS 8700 desktop with a Samsung S24C450 monitor.
I just upgraded to Basecamp 4.3.4. I am trying to create a route from a selected track, but I get the following error: "There was an error calculating this route." I get this whether I use Direct routing, or whether I use one of the non-direct activity profiles (I'm using motorcycling with various avoidance types and route preferences).
I get this error whether I R-click on the track in the left pane and select 'Create route from selected track', or whether I double click on the track, and then click on the 'Create Route' button in the track information window that opens up.

I can create a track from the selected route just fine. When I then select that newly created track, rename it, and try to create a track from the renamed route, I get the same error as before. I tried this with tracks I had under my previous version of BC, as well as with completely new tracks I created after installing BC 4.3.4.

I believe my previous BC version was 4.3.1. I could create tracks from routes and vice versa just fine using that version.
  • Do you by chance have your global map selected instead of a routeable map?
  • I really miss the option that I could see all the trips on a sertian track when i hold the mouse over it.
Eks. on a road i have ride/walked 5-6-7 times, and have adjusted the tracks so they lay on eachother. Old verison I could then see a box whith all the tracks, and then. That is not possioble now.

    Sorry for my bad english.

I just updated to 4.3.4 Now the Global map isn't hidden but remains in view when the Oiltrax map is selected from my device. It is only vaguely accurate and complicates and confuses everything. In the previous version Global Map disappeared as soon as you selected the Oiltrax map. Any ideas on how to hide it?

    Thanks,
    Don.
  • It seems this happens to a few folk, and it did to others in previous Basecamp versions. I'm not sure the Basecamp team knows why it happens, but they may comment at some point. Until they do I think the only thing you can do is live with it.

Thanks for the reply.. I use it every day for work and for an update to make it harder to use is infuriating. When you zoom in you can't tell the difference and Global has roads that don't exist anymore. Thanks.
