From Base Camp Route to Garmin Course

How do I get a Route Created in Base Camp 4.3.1 to be a usable 'Course' on my Garmin 810... In Base Camp I can copy the 'Route' to the SD card on the Garmin but I can't find it as a course to follow on the Garmin? What am I doing wrong. Pointing to a link that shows to to make this happen all the way to starting the course on the Garmin would be great. I keep seeing tutorials showing how to get the info to the SD card on the Garmin in Base Camp but then that is it.

Thank you

So Believe BTLAAKE had the answer about 95% of the way. Here is the last 5%

The Edge 810 and 510 can import .fit, .tcx* and .gpx file(s) into the NewFiles folder. All other files, such as .tcx and .crs, are not compatible with the cycling GPS.

To import the .fit or .gpx file(s):
    1. Plug Edge into computer
    2. Navigate to Edge drive
    3. Navigate to Garmin folder
    4. Navigate to NewFiles folder
    5. Place file(s) to be imported in NewFiles folder
    6. Disconnect Edge from computer
The Edge will convert the file to .fit and move it to the proper folder.
*The tcx file format was introduced in a software update. Update the Edge via WebUpdater if .tcx file(s) will not import.

    So in Basecamp, I
1: select the route I want to export - just click once
2: From the top menu, select File - Export then Export Selection (I am exporting as .gpx)
3: Export the file to the "NewFiles" folder on either the Garmin internal storage or the SD card – either one should work.
4: That is it. The 810 will convert the file to the required format .fit to be used as a Course.

Thank you all for the Help.

The card had all the folders created on it. Not sure when that happened. I believe the main issue was that I was sending .gpx files and the 810 wants .fit files. So the .gpx file had to be explicitly exported to the "NewFiles" folder in order for the 810 to covert it automatically.
  • BaseCamp 4.2.x has a problem with TCX export, the file was empty and routes/tracks. I always use the free JaVaWa RTWtool (mac and windows) to get multiple tracks or courses directly into the Edge 500/800 510/810 Touring and 1000.

Problem with BaseCamp and the Edge conversion to course (error of the edge) that if you drag multiple routes/tracks to the Edge (800 certainly) only the first one is converted or nothing.
