BaseCamp 4.3.0.3 BETA is now available and can be downloaded here:

http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCampBeta_4.3.0.3.exe

This release does not support XP.

You do not have to uninstall BaseCamp 4.2.5 and it will not overwrite that installation. The BETA and an official release of BaseCamp will live side-by-side but must be used separately. However the 4.3.0.2 BETA will be replaced.

Below is a list of changes. This is only a BETA release.

Improved UI for address search
Improved results for address search auto-complete
Fixed a bug where Top Results search didn't refresh in advanced
Fixed a bug where cancelling the address search find did not work
Fixed a bug where address searches were not yielding results on device maps
Improved matching of serach results if search results exactly match user entered criteria
Fixed inversion of route departure times
Update free-form search string whenever advanced search parameters change
Fixed a bug where attemping to do an address search forces a POI search
Fixed not being able to clear departure time on last via if set after inverting route

Post here if you have questions.

The BETA is currently only for English users.

Before using this release, back up your data.

NOTE: We are aware of some issues with routing. Moving waypoints caused the route to leave roads unexpectedly. We know about this issue, and a fix is undergoing QA, however it did not make it into this build. There is no need to report on this issue, we believe we have that under control.

Please post any bugs you may find here. This release is to assist us in testing with a wider user base and wider set of devices. Bugs may be present, and any feedback is welcomed.

Again, thank you for all who participate.

Which is why many use external photo/file sharing sites and post links to stuff instead of using local attachments.
  • By the way, I just want to be sure... this is happening in BaseCamp? You might plug the device in while Express is running and see if it has an update.

I did check it with GE, and it showed that no updates were available.

I will check on this but it isn't your device that's for sure.

I did not filter anything. I downloaded the track from a website and tried to convert it into a route. As I said, the route takes loads of shortcuts across country but also does not act like any other route that can be edited - i.e. it does not remember any points on the route if you add a waypoint or shape point.

I am using the latest City Navigator Europe mapping.

I was looking at the track and it too looks heavily filtered. Prior to you downloading. The track itself appears to jump over large areas of land. Can you point me to where you downloaded these tracks in a PM to me?
  • On the subject of waypoint duplication when dividing routes:

I don't know if this is still a live issue, but I sure hope you guys didn't completely dismiss it. There is a lot of discussion on an older thread that I hope gets considered for future updates.

It continued in the older thread even after this new one started. It probably justifies it's own thread, considering how much it has been discussed.

And no, I don't intend to let it lie. :o

...Or, I can repeat my use case on every new BC thread.

It has not been laid to rest, and there is a case open for this, but it will likely not make this release.
  • I didn't figure it would be immediate. Thanks for the update!

Using 4.3.0.3...having an issue with "search" in Trip Planner. I have CN Europe NT 2014.40 map loaded and using Trip Planner to make a route through Portugal/Spain. On the left data panel, I select my date of choice and use the search box there to find a hotel in San Sebastian, Spain. Search finds it and shows it (with Yelp rating shown) in a list to select from...I select it and the "Searching for Yelp Result" dialog pops-up and never goes away. I CANCEL the Yelp search, and the destination hotel still shows on the map (improved from 4.2.5 where it just disappeared). How can I disable the broken "Yelp Result" dialog? It never returns without a cancel, so I should just be able to disable it.

Problem in Trip Planner w/"Locating Yelp Result"...

Ok, I changed my mind... I cannot make a search work where Yelp is involved! When I search any hotel that has a Yelp reference in the above configuration I always get the "Locating Yelp Result" dialog and it never goes away. If you CANCEL it does not place the Waypoint :-( It knows it's there, but waiting for Yelp I guess, so how can I just disable the Yelp Result lookup and just place the Waypoint?

Workaround:: Go to Google Maps and search the location you are looking for, Right-Click on the location, Click on "What's Here?", get the GPS coords, make a fake Waypoint near the place you think your location is in BaseCamp, bring up the Waypoint properties, paste in the Google GPS coord and build your own Waypoint. Why should I have to do this???? :-(

    Have any other bright ideas?

I would love to test this but it says it will not install on Vista Home Premium either? I thought the cut-off was XP? I sure how with the next versions your not going to cut-off Vista too?
