Nuvi 2555LMT won't show waypoint symbols

Hi,
I have a Nuvi 2555LMT. Heres an example of my problem:

Lets say I want to create one route from my driveway down to the end of the street. In Basecamp I'd select the route tool, click on the end of my driveway, and rubber band down to the end of the street and click there to end the route. I'd hit ESC to save the route and would get a magenta line from my driveway down to the end of the street. I now select the waypoint tool and add a waypoint in the form of a blue flag halfway down the street. This works good so far. Now I export the selected route to the Nuvi 2555LMT. If I run the Nuvi (say sitting in my driveway or driving down the street), I don't see the blue flag waypoint I'd added in Basecamp. Instead I see a little green box with a white heart in it there instead. Shouldn't I see the blue flag?

Maybe I'm missing something as far as adding waypoints along the route. Any comments appreciated.

    What about "Where I've been"?

I'm sure you can save locations in the 2555 it's just a matter of figuring out what they called them. Garmin has a (bad IMO) habit of using different terminology in different models and countries it seems. Evidently they think people are too stupid to Google "waypoint" to find out what it means.

As far as I can tell theres no 'Favorites-Saved Places' on the Nuvi 2555LMT.

That doesn't sound right to me. I have a Nuvi 3550 which is also a 2012 model like yours. Try this: drag the map screen around to enter browse mode. Now tap a location on the map. If you tap a road, a flag will appear and the address will show at the bottom of the screen. If you tap a blank spot, a flag will appear and it should say Coordinates at the bottom. Either way, tap the label at the bottom of the screen and a window will appear with more info and a "Go" button. At the very bottom right of the screen you will see an icon that looks like 3 horizontal lines. Tap that, then tap Save and enter a name. You have now created a favorite (or saved place).

Now exit the map, return to the main menu and tap Where To. One of the items should be "Saved". Tapping it will show subcategories of All Saved Places, Addresses and Map Points/Coordinates. Tap the "All" item and you should see the favorite you just saved on the list. Tap it and you will get an info screen like the one you saw when you created the favorite. Tap the 3-line menu button and you will have the option to Delete, Edit or Share the location. If you tap Edit, you can choose one of the icons that Sussamb included in his post.

Ok, I downloaded the 2555LMT manual and on page 16 it says

    Where To? > Saved
  • Stuart, that's different to favorites/saved places. I think the OP needs to read the manual which explains how to create 'saved places' and follow Boyd's post.

    I edited my post.

Agreed. Link and page number has been provided.

PS: I've got RL things to attend to. Back later.

My post only explains one way that you can create them on the device itself. Another way would be to save the results of a search. You can also create them in Mapsource, Basecamp or just about any program that exports .gpx files. But regardless of how you create them, they will appear under Where To > Saved on the Nuvi.

  • Then you've done something wrong because your nuvi will show them where you've put them :)
  • I really don't understand why you're having to do this ... every nuvi I've had directs me to turn way before any turn

Theres no way to use custom symbols in Basecamp with the Nuvi 2555LMT.

I don't think any nuvi supports custom waypoint symbols. What I do is only use symbols I know my devices support. Of course that doesn't work if your device doesn't support any of BC's symbols.

I do have custom symbols in my Oregon 450 and 76CSx but I usually only use those in the devices themselves.
