We have just released BaseCamp 4.2.4

You can receive the update here: http://www8.garmin.com/software/BaseCamp_424.exe

Here are the items we have fixed:

Fixed error when deleting the last track point in a track
Fixed 'Arrive Continue' guidance issue on zumo 660 (you will need to re-export your gpx files that had this issue, but not recalculate)
Fixed address search issue when running in languages other than English
Fixed user data from FIT files not being read from the Edge 800
Fixed error when removing user data from a list or list folder
Fixed error when using Trip Planner
Fixed error when selecting a track to create an Adventure from

Also for technical reasons, we will not allow non-Garmin devices to enumerate from within BaseCamp. This is due to the over reaching use of copying files to the system. MTP devices are a notable problem, such as an iPhone 5. If you wish to move pictures from your iPhone 5 to BaseCamp, copy them off the iPhone 5 to your local PC first.

Let us know if you have any issues with this update.

I use BaseCamp maximized >90% of the time also, but occasionally I need to reduce the window size to drag-n-drop files from my desktop (or other folders) to the BaseCamp interface. I understand this is not a 'critical' error, and I hope the BaseCamp engineers can understand how incredibly frustrating it is to have to restructure the display interface every time the window size is changed, especially as this has been a recurring issue going back for more than two years of development.

If I had a nickle for every time I had to re-position my toolbars in BaseCamp......

Wow, I was wondering why anyone would ever use Basecamp not maximized! ~ I never suspected you could do any "dragging & dropping" in and out of Basecamp. (Please elaborate on when/how you use this capability!)

Well, since 'drag-n-drop' has been a key feature of 'Windows' since its first release (and I have been using it that long), I import most of my data into BaseCamp in this manner.

To ensure that I never loose any information collected, all my GPS data is manually transferred from my multiple GPSr to individual archives on my HDD. This data is never touched for editing, and is treated as ROM.

The data I wish to work with is then copied into appropriate BaeCamp folder lists (via drag-n-drop) as desired, edited (deleted, copied, corrected, combined, separated, or otherwise modified), and again exported to individual archives on my HDD.

This allows me to always have access to my original, unedited GPSr data as well as my processed data, not only with BaseCamp, but also additional software titles I want to use my data with.

I also drag-n-drop external data from sources other than Garmin GPSr into BaseCamp for processing, including GPX and photo files.

My use is similar to BABJ615. As I've mentioned before, I never let Basecamp near my Garmin devices. So whenever I want to use Basecamp for something that requires data from a nav device I just drag/drop from Windows Explorer into Basecamp. (When I'm done I usually [destructively] delete everything from the Collection so it's not there cluttering things up next time I use Basecamp.

If you haven't discovered drag/drop then you may also not have discovered that you can copy/paste into it, too. My more common scenario is that I will be using Mapsource for some work and want to convert a track to route or vice versa, which Mapsource can't do. So I copy/paste the track or route from Mapsource into Basecamp, do the conversion, then copy/paste back.

I actually use copy/paste from Mapsource to Basecamp more than drag/drop from Windows Explorer because I can copy just the specific data I need for a particular operation.

You don't use Mapsource so copy/paste may not be relevant.

Same here. I use clone devices (SD cards in my case) when I want to write (data/firmware/maps) to my devices and manually copy (using Windows Explorer) GPX files from them when I want to read/import data.

I do use MapSource directly to transfer data to/from my 76CSx (only way to do so) but update it's maps using a card reader (not the units mass-storage mode).

I'm sure "average users" don't want to bother doing this but I've had zero issues since adopting that method.

Amazing, I'm glad I ran across this post & decided to ask.

I'm a "hard core" user of the clipboard, cut copy past, and other keyboard commands. (So much MS experience I'd still be comfortable with only a keyboard and DOS 3.3!) ~ Just assumed the way Basecamp was setup that drag and drop was not supported in the code. (Maybe it's in the training video, but I've never bothered to view it.)
