BaseCamp 4.0.4 is available for download at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435.

The update from within BaseCamp should also be working, or will be working soon.

Version 4.0.3 got skipped because we found and addressed an issue internally before it was made available for the public.

This is a maintenance release, meaning this is all about bug fixes and small improvements, not new features.

This is the list of changes:

Fixed some issues with publishing adventures.
Fixed an issue with remembering the layout of the data and map panels.
Fixed an issue with remembering the positioning of the toolbars.
Fixed some layout issues in Windows XP.
Fixed ordering of photos during adventure playback.
Fixed various stability issues with route properties.
Fixed issues with the route and track join.
Fixed some device and adventure transfer issues.
Fixed issue with gdb and kml import.
Fixed issues with adventure playback.
Fixed an issue with exporting waypoints with dog icons.
Fixed an issue where orphaned route via point would remain on the map in certain cases.
Fixed an issue where geotagged photos were not being cleaned up after deletion.
Fixed an issue with the notes tab where links where not being stored properly.
Fixed various other stability issues.
Improved speed for displaying the properties of an adventure for the first time.
Improved transition when entering/leaving adventure playback mode.
Increased precision in which we display speeds.

Is there a way to show current position of multiple selected devices without the clutter of the track history showing? I am using the Astro 320 with up to 10 other devices being tracked simultaneously. The map quickly fills with tracks that are of no interest to me.

I don't believe there currently is. We'll see what we can do for the next BaseStation feature update.

At that time, we will also check the BirdsEye issue (that you can combine BaseStation mode with BirdsEye).

    Thanks for your feedback.
  • I note that in 4.0.4 (and it may have been in earlier versions) that under References in Waypoint Properties it states:

Lists will be converted into waypoint categories when transferring waypoints to supported devices and having just checked this is true, although I know I had problems with this in some earlier versions of BC 4.0. I am still hoping that in the not too distant future we will get back what was implemented in 3.2 and 3.3 (IIRC), that is transferring waypoints/categories from supported devices to BC will see the waypoint categories converted to lists so that we have a 2-way (BC to device, device to BC) compatibility between lists and categories :)

It does seem as though this should be possible, as using BC to look at the waypoint properties and then references on my nuvi 1490 it shows the category that a waypoint is in, so BC can clearly get that data from the GPS

Basecamp mac 4.04 export data UTM?

    Hi
    V. 4.04 upgrade
Thank you guys for the latest changes. (Especially for the "creation date" fix in 4.00, VERY helpful for us.)
    Two questions:
    1. the change to the " fixed issues in detailed data list"? What were those fixes?
    2. We use the UTM in our data, which we import into a spreadsheet for editing. Will Basecamp ever be able to export data in the native choice format, IE as a TT or CSV text file in UTM's? Just as displayed in the detailed data list?
Basecamp displays the data in our chosen format, even in a handy spreadsheet format like the Detailed Data list, but refuses to export the data like that. (I can see why in GPX files, but why no other options?)
Currently we have to export the data, then import into MacGps pro, which converts to UTM's automatically and allows us to export the data again in UTM.

Will we ever be able to export the Detailed Data list as is? As a Spreadsheet?

BaseCamp allows the user to specify the grid and datum (UTM/WGS84 is an often used standard).

Why is it not possible for BaseCamp to output (csv/txt export, or print) data in UTM?
  • This is the third post where you've asked the same question, please don't as it makes it difficult to follow if questions are being answered in multiple locations. I've answered your query in the first post of yours that I read.
