MapSource features I'd like to see in BaseCamp.

It would be really nice to have a way to outline map segments inside BaseCamp the way the segment select tool was in MapSource. That way a user could know in detail where the segment starts and ends. AFAIK there's no way to do that in BC currently.
  • I was looking for general use cases that would apply to a good chunk of our users.

Doesn't good chunk of users use free maps?
Personally I don't see much reason to have that feature in Basecamp as long as Mapsource is available.

Nobody is going to erase your copy, but program is dead. For example Mapsource has problems with tiling, that are corrected in BaseCamp. And this is valid reason for using BaseCamp instead.

PLEASE add Map Tool function from MAPSOURCE in BASECAMP.
Smaller GPS units (Outdoor for instance like Dakota series) don´t have big internal memory or card reader. So my maps installed on PC don´t fit in the Dakota 10. Zumo 550 is easy to manage because it reads SD cards. But on Dakota 10 i can´t use the same licenced maps because they are to big and Dakota 10 only have 850mb internal memory. If i had maptool in BAsecamp it would be more easy and solve this kind of problems just by selecting parts of the map/reagion i want to navigate.
    Best regards
  • You don't have to send the whole map in Basecamp either, just the parts you want. Right click your device, select Install Maps and follow the wizard :)

Yup! I often use this feature not because I don't have enough memory, but because I just can't see the sense in loading hundreds of Mb of map tiles I will NEVER use. If you use routeable maps like CNNA, it makes searches faster, as well. My install of CNNA is only about 324 Mb.
