BaseCamp 3.3.3 has been released. You can download it manually at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435. The update from within BaseCamp should become available as well later today.

This is a maintenance release, meaning it's mainly bug fixes.
  • Fixed an error when a new list folder was created while a balloon was visible on the map
  • Fixed an error when creating waypoints or tracks over 3rd party maps that are missing files
  • Fixed some errors when receiving from a device (this is the generic wording for the geocache log message)
  • Fixed an error when using BaseCamp with an iPhone connected
  • Fixed an issue with MTP devices with cards greater than 8 GB in size

    That is unfortunate.

Blowing away all sub-directories in the GARMIN_Corp directories (while BaseCamp is not running) should do the trick then.

For me, GARMIN_Corp is at C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\GARMIN_Corp.
  • New Route Popup Fixed

    Ivan,

Thank you for confirming that Reset does not fix the problem.

I think the feature was switched off in release 3.3.2.

I also had to edit the user.config file as suggested by Falagar and now the feature works as per the video.

    Regards

    Roy

Basecamp - can't get past licence agreement

The workaround below does not work, at least not on my Windows XP Samsung netbook. There are only three sizes of text possible to change: normal, large and extra large. Does anyone have any other solutons, please? - I want to use the netbook for plotting routes when on holiday.

You are not doing anything wrong. It's a bug. I apologize for the trouble.

That is a newly introduced issue in the installer.

This only happens if you have your Windows installation set up to display the text larger.

In Windows 7, you can get to the settings by going to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Make Text or other items larger or smaller. It should work similarly in XP/Vista.

Put smaller (100%) there and re-run the BaseCamp installer.

This is of course something we will fix very soon, but for the time being please use the work-around mentioned above.

After BaseCamp has installed successfully, you can revert back to your old settings.

You need to go to the Advanced tab and select 96 DPI.

    Control Panel:Display:Settings:Advanced

Thanks Jack - just checked on that, I'm already on 96 dpi...this Netbook has a smaller screen than a normal laptop (1024x600 max) so perhaps this is the problem. I have asked Garmin directly but of course as usual they never reply to emails. I've been trying to find a download for the previous 3.3.2 version but can't find it - does anyone know if it is available, please?

I apologize for the installer giving you trouble. If you download the installer again at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435 does it work then?

The installer team has fixed the bug for most people.

Please let us know if this still doesn't work, then we'll have some more work to do to fix this for very small resolutions.

3.3.2 is available here (that is a website not maintained by us): http://www.gawisp.com/perry/mapsource/BaseCamp_332.exe. But please still try new 3.3.3 installer and let us know if there's still an issue. Thanks!
  • Is there a change in 3.3.3 with the way it handles geocaches?

I have a number of geocaches loaded in BC. In properties they display the closed cache icon top right, I accidentally clicked on one and it changed it to the found cache icon, which is now 'grayed out' and I can't therefore change it back. I'm pretty sure () earlier BC versions allowed you to switch between the two.

Update need Windows XP SP3 or higher

When I update to version 3.3.3.0 the software stops with an error:
"OS version not right - you need windows XP SP3 or higher" (I got it in German). First higher than SP3 is not avaiable - second I have XP SP3 with all new updates! What's happen?

The behavior has changed since 3.3.1. I don't know the reason behind the change. I'll create a case to improve this.
