When I download birdseye maps onto my Oregon 550T, does it make a difference on whether it is done in high or highest on the Oregon?Or is the high or highest only seen on the Basecamp screen? And my Oregon has no chip in it. I was downloading arials in highest format. Now I get a message that the info did not transfer to the Oregon. Did I max out the Oregon? Can I buy chips and load areas of arials on them? What if I want to download the North American maps on the Oregon, is there room to do that with my ariels? Also, I bought the Birdseye for one year. At the end of the year do the maps I made get erased from Basecamp and my Oregon? Sorry if I asked dumb questions, I'm a beginner. Thanks.

Everything I read says the Oregon line of GPS devices will only take a 4GB card. Does anyone know if this has changed with the latest software updates?

Did you read my post just above yours? I am using a 16GB card and there are no problems. And if you read other threads on this site and others you will find that many are using cards larger than 4GB.

Also, the following comes from a search of Garmin's support site:

    Question:
Are there memory limitations other than what is available on the device or microSD card?

    Answer:
Outdoor devices often have two limits when considering the amount of mapping that can be loaded at one time. Often this limit is associated with either the amount of memory available on a device or microSD card or the number of map tiles a single device can accept. Often the memory limitation is reached before the map tile limitation.

The same concept is not true when considering BirdsEye Satellite Imagery. The only limitation is in regards to the amount of memory available on the device or microSD cards imagery is being sent to.
