As for your question, I'm not sure what you're asking? Are you wanting maps to work with BaseCamp or Google Earth, since having your device plugged in is about maps whereas your thread title mentions GE?

I updated my old version of Basecamp and now it worn't work with GE.  Just found an older version of GE so now I'm trying to find a version of GE that will work with basecamp.

You'll need to revert to v4.6.2 of BaseCamp, later versions don't work with GE, or if they do I've seen no one say so. You'll also need to use an earlier version of GE, and one that doesn't automatically update 

Thanks Sussamb, would you know where I can download a older version of google earth? I have 4.5.1 of basecamp and the  only way I can get the full version is if my Nav 6 gps is hooked up to the computer then I can see all the roads. 

You keep mentioning getting the full version etc when your nav 6 is connected, that's nothing to do with GE, and BaseCamp either has to read maps off a device or they need to be installed to your PC for BaseCamp to use. 

Personally I would update your BC version to 4.6.2, you can find the various versions here https://www.gpsrchive.com/BaseCamp/index.htm

I wrote a program that makes in fairly convenient to get BaseCamp data into GE.  It works with any version of BaseCamp and Earth.

I guess my main problem right now is the full version of basecamp is not downloading to  my computer. I just get the main roads but if I connect my gps then I can see the side streets etc. on the computer. I would like to use the program without having my gps connected to the computer.

That is the full version of BaseCamp. It doesn't come with anything other than the basemap. I did ask at the beginning whether it was the maps or GE and you went down the GE route.

Let's now go back a bit.  To install the map to your PC for BaseCamp to use run Garmin Express, select your device and then map options.  Under map options select Download to computer.

My problem is I didn't have garmin express installed. Once I did that then downloaded basecamp I'm working.

Now I need dpawlyk to tell me how to get google earth to work with basecamp.
