How do I open Garmin db files from my Backup?

Only GDB & DBX files seem to be referenced.

Oh, and the Main Menu above really does say "German Forum", not "Garmin Forum", huh? Whyzat?

Well, this site really is a maze of confusion! I was in the process of answering your first response when I saw 2 new messages had arrived from GARMIN forum and switched to see them, and lost my first response! Harrumph!!

S'alright, it was mostly of no import except why I am referenced as "4176614" instead of the name I gave upon opening an account today.

Moving on... the backups I'm referring to is the backup I did back on 6/21/2017 from my Garmin nuvi 2555LMT

'er, right. I got that when I opened it. But thanks anyway. :-) I guess Garmin is a German company, huh?

But I really need the "Garmin" forum that will tell me why my newly established account insists on giving it the name of "4176614" instead of the name I entered. But wait...

I assume you backed up your nuvi using Express? You'll need to use Express to restore it to your nuvi then copy the data from there to BaseCamp

Well, I don't remember now how I did the backup 3 years ago. I don't need to Restore them abut I am doing a reorganization of my main PC and saw the Garmin backup files. As a database programmer I thought I'd have a look at them but found I couldn't, except in text format.

However, my point "why my newly established account insists on giving it the name of "4176614" instead of the name I entered" is still a valid concern. I can't even log in! sigh

OK, thanks for the try. I did try contacting product support but as my name is not recognized, it wouldn't handle it.

Yes, I realize I'm logged in but as 4176614! That's taking database use a little too far. Is there no general eMail address I can send my seemingly trivial questions to?
