29 way points limitations

When I transfer gpx routes , it is divided into 2 trips because of 29 way points limitations. is there a solution for that problem ?
This is very critical to me to keep the route into 1 trip ? The gpx is designed by https://www.myrouteapp.com/
  • What device do you have? You should be able to convert the majority of the points to shaping points, you can have up to 125 of those.

In the interest of completeness: ... you can have up to 125 shaping points between each set of adjacent waypoints....

So, with 3 waypoints one can have ~253 points in total to define your route
  • Wasn't aware of that but then I never need anywhere close to 125 :)

Out of interest then what's the absolute max number? Assume you could have another 125 for every additional way point?

I am using gpx files created from https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/user/login and my device is dezl 570 LMT.
I did not face that problem with TomTom Go 6100 .
Here attached some of routes that the dezl 570 LMT splitted into 2 trips ?????
Please help to make it one trip ???
Please rename attached file to .gpx extension .
I am using basecamp to open the gpx and then send to device and then I select my device but I am finding that Garmin dezl 570 LMT divided into 2 trips because of 29 limitations .
    Thanks
  • See the posts above. You need to convert the intermediate points to shaping points then the route will load as one.

Waypoints to shaping points: Use Basecamp or your device

In the Mac version of BaseCamp one opens the route properties, selects the waypoints one wants to change, and then right clicks and selects "Don't Alert On Arrival (shaping point)" to change it to a shaping point. Probably something similar in the Win version of BC.

Once again, there are some Garmin devices which will not honor this.

Another way to do it is on your device if it has a Trip Planner.

Haven't tested the max myself but those who have (I'm looking at you DrtByk) say its 125 additional allowed for every additional waypoint after the first up to the waypoint number limit for the device, e.g., 30 total waypoints in a route would allow 29 x 125 shaping points which is 3,625 shaping points!

This attached file is the right option of a mouse click . nothing talking about Shpaing points or Do not alert in it ????
  • That's because you haven't done as suggested. Open Route Properties and right click the points in Route Properties. To open route properties either right click the route in the left hand pane and select Open or double click it.
