Trip Planner request/question

The slider that moves the red point along your route allowing you to search from the point on the route is very useful, thanks for the addition. if I click on a find the route is recalculated to include the new point and if I delete the new waypoint, the route is recalculated, the waypoint is removed for trip planner route and the normal but is left in my collection. It would be nice if I could right click a trip planner waypoint an remove from My Collection.

Thanks for the search along route feature, is there an option to change the distance from route to determine a hit? What is the distance being used now?

Thanks

As I think about it, a separate window for trip planner with MyCollection lists/folders always present to drag waypoints into trip planner would be very helpful. Currently I seem to be constantly exiting trip planner to view something in MyCollection.

Great idea...a floating Trip Planner window that stays persistent.
  • Having an all-waypoints "details" window and have them sorted/grouped by "Reference" would be awesome.

I use a number of "Smart List's" to organize my data in various ways. I would like to be able to have one or more of those windows open and stay open AND THEN open the Trip Planner so I could easily use the data from the "sticky" windows.

I'm not sure we'll be able get give you either of these, but it is fairly easy to find waypoints using the quick find or the regular find. With normal find, you can keep a filtered list of your waypoints sorted by distance up at all times. One refinement would be to add the ability to filter by category name.

I use the Find User Data panel to quickly access my nearby waypoints when I'm planning a trip. It doesn't allow you to sort or filter by category, but it is a quick way to add nearby waypoints. Does this work for your cases, or am I missing something?

Filtering by distance is one of the biggest problems when you are planning a trip of longer distance. I use Smart Lists to logically filter my data so being able to "float a persistent" Detailed Data List window would solve all of these issues.

Again, the key in your logic is "nearby". For many of us "distance" sorting/filtering (and not just for waypoints) is an inappropriate method in many scenarios - both in BaseCamp and on the GPS and we've been saying this for years now.

I may be missing something, but I usually create waypoints for my routes. When I create the trip planner route, I can't remember the naming of the waypoints. I either have to switch between MyCollection and trip planner every time I add a waypoint or take a screen shot of the list. The organization provided by MyCollection is vital in finding the waypoint.

Good point....a floating-persistant Trip Planner window! We have got to be able to multi-task in BaseCamp. Serializing workflow in such an application - especially with Trip Planner - just doesn't work very well.
