Seeing microSD preinstalled Map in Basecamp

Hello everyone, just joined this forum, so first of all let me say hello to all the members!

And let me also ask my first question!

I have recently purchased a 62ST, which works fine for me. I connect it to my macbook pro using basecamp, and I can see the preinstalled topo basemap in basecamp, when the device is connected. All good, so far.

I bought yesterday City Navigator 2011 preinstalled on a Micro SD card, which works fine on the 62ST.
Problem is I cannot see the maps on basecamp, and I would need them to plan some routes.

I can see two folders mounting when plugging the GPS: the Garmin one (the 62) and another one (with the serial n.) which is the SD.
And the same appears in Basecamp, to the left, but while i can select the topo map, nothing happens with CN.

I have left the device plugged for hours (i have read first time might take some time) but nothing happens.

Am I missing any step here?
thanks!

  • Hi DRTBYK,
reason why I quoted the following is mostly because it says viewed, which is what I was expecting from Basecamp

"Maps on microSD/SD cards cannot be copied or viewed on a computer."

I really hope I am wrong, let's see if the developers can help us on this
    cheers!

This is an example of under promise and over deliver. At the time that was created there was no ability to use your downloaded maps on your computer. Since then we've added the ability to use those maps in BaseCamp. However, because these maps were not designed to be used on the computer, we have run into a few...snags that we are doing our best to iron out.

  • Here the screenshots. I have taken one of the left sidebar of basecamp, the 62 shows there and there is also the folder named "010..." that is the micro SD. I have also take a screenshot of the Maps menu and one of the desktop where you can see both the Garmin image (the 62) and again the "010...".

Thanks in advance for the help!

Unfortunately that screenshot isn't conclusive at pointing at the problem. Could you also send the BaseCamp.log file that is located in ~/Library/Logs/Garmin as well as a screenshot of Finder showing the contents of the card. Sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunately we can't reproduce the issue you are experiencing.

    Hi azdrmn,
has the new BaseCamp 3.2.0.10 Beta resolved this issue?

    thank you
