Select tool does not select, Hand tool does select ??!

Hi folks,

I'm having a hard time with Basecamp when trying to edit a route.

With the Select tool activated and the route activated, when I click on the route to drag & drop to another road it usually doesn't select but instead it draws a grey square on the map. I have no clue why it's doing that.

Also with the Hand tool activated if I move the map but accidentally pass over a track it drag & drop the track......

So the behaviour is really not consistent. I tried to uninstall Basecamp and install again, it didn't change anything.

I don't have a Mac but in the Windows version that is how the select tool works. Drag and drop is via the hand tool.

That's not what is described in the documentation.

Hand tool is supposed to move the map and only move the map. Select tool is supposed to let you drag & drop a section.

Turn this option ON in preferences to prevent accidentally moving data.

I think its working the way it is supposed to. You can click a track to select or click and drag for a box to select. Once selected can you click and hold on the track to move a point.

Yeah but then why is the behaviour inconsistent with the Select tool?! When I Option + Click sometimes it does a grey rectangle selection and sometimes it selects the track and I'm able to drag & drop the track to another road. That's what I'm trying to achieve, but it's never consistent.

I watched your video - I was somewhat reluctant as it required me to download the file. Perhaps you might want to consider another method of sharing in the future that doesn't require one to risk downloading.

Anyways, that isn't normal behaviour. However, you haven't indicated anything about what macOS version you're using or Basecamp for that matter. I suspect that it is related to a bug in Basecamp running on a newer macOS.

Thanks for your answer. Indeed I could have uploaded the screenrecording to Youtube! Will do that next time!

My OS version is 10.14.6 and Basecamp version is 4.8.8

Should I downgrade Basecamp to another version?

I don't think downgrading BC will help. BC 4.8.8 is working correctly on my iMac running 10.13.6.

Are you using the Magic Mouse or some other device for a pointing device. There are issues with Logitech and Watcom device drivers.
