View Map In Basecamp Without GPS Attached?

I’ve got a hiking trip planned for the Italian Alps (Dolomites) in the near future. I'm going to purchase the Transalpine+ Pro map chip to use in my GPSMAP 64s for that hike. However, I’d like to make sure that the map is always available when I look at my routes in Basecamp.

I have another map chip for the NW USA which works wonderfully but to view it I have to have my GPS plugged in to my laptop so the chip is available to Basecamp. I don’t want to have to remove the NW USA chip and replace it with the Dolomites chip every time I want to look at the Dolomites map in Basecamp. How do I do that? How can I view the Dolomites map whenever I open Basecamp without having to have the GPS connected with the Dolomites map in the GPS?

How easy do you want it? You can install the map to your computer or a virtual drive or a removeable drive, eg SD card or memory stick, or BaseCamp will read it from your device. Seems to me Garmin make it very easy with numerous ways of doing it.

I create a virtual disk and charge the maps with the JaVaWa Device Manager 3.9 tool (Mac), they seem's to be loaded into Basecamp, but I can't display the charged map's when I select them?

Forgot something? I try it on several way's

I assume from what you say you're using Device manager to install the maps from your device into your virtual drive? How are you then trying to select them in BaseCamp?

When I start Basecamp the Virtual Garmin (with Topo Benelux and the last Garmin Cycle Map EU 2020.10, South West) is opening automatically, and the installed maps in the left column, just like my 830 when he is connected, only, when I click on them nothing happened !? Also when the unit hang's on the Mac it seems to work when I select a map on the virtual disk.

I'd try simply copying the map file from your device to the Garmin folder on your virtual drive.

I erase Topo Benelux from VG and copy it again directly from the Edge (not passing true Device Manager), and NO ! same issue ...

Did you make the virtual drive removable? If it is and still not working try with a memory stick, create a folder named Garmin and copy the map file there. Does that work? If so something is wrong with your virtual drive.

That's also what I was thinking, I already try this and yes on the USB stick it works (in fact I begin the MS then I read somewhere it will work faster on virtual drive) ... so yes, we can say the virtual drive is wrong, but what ? I suppose most of them works correctly
