Virb Edit 3.1.0 reboots laptop when opening imported images from Virb Elite

with version 3.1.0 I am still getting problems opening imported images from the Virb Elite, the pictures import apparently ok, they are copied to the configured folder
c:\users\XXX\Piictures\Virb with the prefix I typed
I can open them with preview in file explorer or in some other third party image viewer
The Images appear with a thumbnail on the Media Library, but once I do a right click / View, the computer simply reboots!
I am running Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 7537 Intel Core i7-4500U 1.80GHz 8Gb RAM, Intel HD Graphics
my driver shows version 10.18.14.4222
which is the last one shown in intel driver update utility
seems newer than the one in dell site:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/...driverId=WX14C
what can be advised regarding this reboot? should I roll back to the drivers on dell website? look on some log for the origin of the problem?

also when I open virb edit each time I get 2 errors
could not read 35 clips some clips may be missing
could not read 31 clips some clips may be missing
I think this error refers to the previous images I tried to import and then deleted from the media library to add them manually again
how or where can I get information on the clips that are not read, so that I can remove the references to this files and not get the error messages each time I open the program?
