I can create a video with overlays using 2.7.0 on my Win 8.1 HP Pavillion 23 All-in-One PC. When I first installed it, it would not export any video, with or without overlays. I went back to the previous version, but Garmin Express(?) updated it back to 2.7.0 (in error) but it works fine now, it even Exported a 4.1GB video with overlays.

    Hi Bob

How you went back to the previous version.
Have you installed the old version over the new version or have you deinstalled the the version before you installed the wld vesuin

    regards

I downloaded the VIRBEdit_251.exe from a link I saw on the ADV Rider site on the VIRB Elite thread. I uninstalled 2.70 and then ran 2.5.1 exe file. My data was still available in VIRBEdit after the downgrade.

I'm having trouble finding the link, but I'll keep searching and update this post later.

What the HECK?!? I have specifically *declined* the update each time it has been offered in Virb Edit - but, lo and behold - now I cannot export video, and the version given in 'About...' is 2.7!!!! WTF?!?

I was trying to export a video, and it kept getting stuck at 34.79%. I deleted the entire job and recreated the video from scratch - same result: 34.79%. Then I tried playing it - jerky as hell. So I checked to see what version was installed, and the damn software has updated itself WITHOUT my knowledge and most certainly without my permission!

Guys, time to get your act together!!! Damn amateurs!!

Starting to think, I will have to send my Garmin Virb back if they don't fix the software! I now can't do any of the stuff, I got it for! Anyone at Garmin reading this??

    @Bannor
Relax and install an old version (uninstall 2.70 first).
There must be something else going on. Never heard about VIRB Edit auto-updating.
The VIRB Edit guys have limited resources and are (sometimes) not informed about changes in the VIRB Firmware.

To help yourself (and others) you could tell them what system you use and send them the error.log .

As I see it, the sales department of Garmin wanted the camera on the marked.
The camera was not ready yet, but still sales wanted it before the outdoor season started.
This resulted in a buggy camera (I'm using my 3rd), with firmware 3.70 the camera is almost stable. (3.80 has some problems again)
Than just before the release of the camera someone had an idear, a video editing program would be nice.
The app developers were put on the case and had to make a program in no time (while working on other Garmin software too).
It resulted in a very simple program.
We have come a long way since then.

    BTW:
VIRB Edit, like Basecamp, is a free program. Everyone can use it (read system requirements).
With Basecamp you can use open street maps (all for free), you don't need Garmin maps.
With VIRB Edit you don't need a VIRB (Elite), you can use any camera and any track (converting before importing can be nessecery).
So buying a VIRB because of VIRB Edit can't be the argument.
You could have bought a GoPro, a RoadHawk, a Drift or something else and still use VIRB Edit.
Now you have a VIRB you still can use another program for editing, you don't have to use VIRB Edit.
