Insert GPS data

Hello,

As I'm only making some videos during my runs, I'd like to see the full run in the GPS map using the GPX issued of my edge 810. I can change in Virb Edit the gps datas and replace by my data but it has no effect. In my video it is always the gps map issued by the virb which is displayed. The only way I can be sure I did the right way is when I want to change the position or replace again the gps data, I see the map from my edge run.
But it never reflects in the virb preview nor in the exported video.

Am I missing something?

    Thanks, guys.

That makes sense, we'll see what we can do. Not in 2.3, but hopefully in a later feature release.

Ok, that would be great and I really think this is necessary.
    Thanks
  • Yes, this functionality would be great. I am sure not many people are going to film constantly for a very long time and then edit out most of it.

I often edit .gpx files manually in a text editer or in MapSource.
When I need accellerations, my gps won't give them to me.
I have to copy them into my files.
When I need hights, I edit them as we have not much of a hight around here in Holland.
When I need a track for a trip, most of the time I ride parts of it, than put it together to be a round-trip.
If you look at this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?68799-Example-Video-For-Overlays, most of the used .gpx files are tweeked in one way or another (time, date, hight, G-force, extra points, deleting points).

I know :), I didn't sync the track, it was only an illustration of several short pieces of video and a long track.
I have made some demonstration movie's with tracks that don't correspond with the video.
I even made a video with gauges displaying all sorts of things where you only can see fixed pictures, just showing what the overlays look like.

I don't own a VIRB yet, so so if there is a hop, it has nothing to do with the VIRB.
I do have speed problems with non-VIRB video played almost twice as fast as it should when no overlay (and .GPX) is used.
Also the audio of non-VIRB video has to be re-added as music as the original sound is not exported.
But I'm just testing for when I buy the VIRB (Elite). Also I'm waiting for the Garmin version of the BMW Navigator V, hoping it will have ANT+, to be used as a remote for the VIRB.

I saw the video nice corners, you can keep up to speed in those ;)
If the track is off by a few seconds, it just mis-aligned, you will see the corners, a bit too early or a bit too late.

I have looked at the date the video was uploaded, 12-12-2013.
2.2.2 was released on 24-11-2013, on 11-12-2013 version 2.2.3 was released.
So I expect the video was made with VIRB Edit 2.2.2 or earlier.
In a version before 2.2.5 (can't remember wich it was) of VIRB Edit you would have several clips each with it's own track.
When exported first the tracks were added together and than the whole track was added to each clip.
The time it took to do the track depended on the length of the clip.
At 12:48 a new clip starts on a new road but it starts at the beginning of the same track as on 10:50.
So this is made with the older version of VIRB Edit with the described problem.
