VIRB Edit 4.3.2 will not start

Hi all, wondering if anyone has seen this before. I have just installed Edit v4.3.2 fresh (no previous installations) and it won't start. I don't see a splash screen or any kind of GUI for Edit. All I get is a Windows Event Log that says the following. I think the key takeaway is the file not found error, but of course it doesn't say what file it's looking for.

Application: VirbEdit.exe

A GLV file is actually a low resolution version of your video. If you rename the file extension from (for example) VIRB0001.GLV to VIRB0001.mp4 you should be able to watch it in any video player. Your G-Metrix comes from a .fit file. If you are poking around the files on your camera's card, you'll see there is a GMetrix folder full of .fit files. If you import your videos from the camera through the VirbEdit application, it should pair up your videos and data automatically. You shouldn't really have to look around for the files manually.

Purdington, I really appreciate for your explanation.

I am having the same issues launching the program, is there an official location to download the 3.6 software? I just received my camera today and without the software this thing is on the fast track to being returned and replaced with a go-pro

You can download any of the Virb Edit software from here.

    cheers

4.2.3 installed, worked once, wouldn't launch again
4.2.2 installed, worked once, wouldn't launch again
4.2.1 installed, worked once, wouldn't launch again
4.1.1 installed, worked once, wouldn't launch again
4.1.0 installed, worked once, wouldn't launch again
3.6.0 error on install saying i need windows media player and linked me to a blank m$ page to install it, I re-enabled the feature, installed it and it ran, closed, and ran again
So then I tried installing 4.2.3 again, It still does not work
    Uninstalled 4.2.3 and reinstalled 3.6.0
So I am stuck it seems using version 3.6.0 at this time but I guess that's better than not working at all?
  • I've had to go back to version 2.5.1 now of the version after that work that great and have way, way to many bugs!
  • Hi all,

OP here, thanks for the suggestions. In the end I downloaded Edit v3.6 and I am happily using that. No uninstall/re-install, file repair or Windows update process could get v4.3.2 working for me.

That's where I am at as well
It's like their tech support won't even acknowledge the issue either.

Use the 3.6.0 version, it is the most stable and with less hassle.
I tried dozens of times with later versions but the telemetry were not aligned, then were slow, then sfasavano video ... torture ...
Giving up some function but with the 3.6.0 solve everything.

thank you both for the suggestions. I'm running Windows 8.1 and tried installing version 4.10 back in November, to no avail. Tried installing the latest last week, and again didn't work. Version 3.6 seem to do the trick
  • Same issue with 4.3.2

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why Virb Edit 4.3.2 will work only once on my ThinkPad W530 and my ThinkStation S20 workstations. These computers are extremely loaded workstations and handle many CAD related apps without a flinch. The issue was with Virb Edit 4.3.2. The program would launch after install only one time. After that one time launch the program will not successfully launch again unless I uninstall the software and reinstall it. I spent over an hour with Garmin software support and they were puzzled why this is behaving this way.

I installed 3.6.0 and the problem is now gone!!

Just for the record, 3.6.0 seems to run much faster.
