VIRB Edit 2.6.0 Released

So the latest Virb Edit for Mac has been released, and if you originally downloaded it through the Mac store, then it'll show up as an update via the OS. I often ignore those update notices but spotted this one and downloaded it.

You can probably also update from within VE.

This is the Clip Transition tab: basic, but it works nicely.

  • When I first noticed I had no track data on "Create Video" I tried importing the current track from my Montana which should have covered that time frame but I had a lot of trouble with it, so I gave up and re-imported the original video from the Elite and worked from that.
  • Found another of my videos had track data/gauge display in Preview, but there was nothing I could do to get that information in the Create Video window. So I went to the "Gauges" tab and selected "None", but when I exported the video, it included gauges with no data in them.

  • GEOMONSTER:
Do you mean that clicking the "Play" icon in the Video Gallery has functional gauges in it, but upon export it does not? That seems unlikely.

OR do you mean that the clip in your clip library has gauges on it when you play it there, but once you add it to your currently edited video, the track does not display? That would certainly be a bug, as well; it just seems more possible than the alternative.
  • Sorry, I used the wrong terminology. The clips I have problems with have gauge information when played in the Clip Library, but not in the Create Video environment.

But the clips do show a track (black line) in the map window of the Create Video environment, but not a red dot to indicate the current location.
  • I am having the same problems with Edit 2.6. When I play a clip in the Clip Library gauges will show data (power, cadence, etc), but when I try to "Create Video" the gauges do not display any data (speed, power, grade, etc). I have not tried the work around (which is completely unsat by the way), but will soon.

Waiting for a another update to fix.
  • So I tried trimming as suggested and that does not work. Still can not make videos in edit (with gauges). This is getting old and bad press is starting to build and spread. Fix needs to come ASAP!!
  • Any updates?? I have done to imporant trips now - recorded for upload to Kinomap.com. It´s a disaster. The last trip was for two hours. I did not stop the recording during the ride. I import all the 4 clips to create the video. The route turn out all right, bud many big parts (lines) are in grey. What is wrong?
    1. Does the Virb loose gps signal during ride?
    2. I have a Edge 1000. That one should also record the complete route. Importing edge to connect show a perfect route from the Edge. How am I to try to import that "over" the gps-info in the clips?

Hope for some support. This is pretty annoying! I am using mac with 2.6.0.

  • Here's where I stand: After formatting my memory card I record for a short period. This first recording will not display any gauges when trying to make a video. Now all future recordings after the first one will display gauges (except the heart rate sometimes). So it seems that the current work around is keep at least one recording on the card and future recordings will allow you to make videos with gauges.
  • AUTOFIL:
If you still have track data, and it's just rendering in gray, that only means that there's no video in that portion of your GPS log. So long as the line is rendered, you've got a GPS log bridging your video clips.

    CTJLONG:
Have you tried going into the Edit tab>GPS Log>Adjust... settings after going into edit mode? Does the track there look like the track you'd expect, and does altering that default alignment have any affect on your issue? The only difference between the clip library preview and edit mode I can think of is that we try to match the video to your VIRB Elite's FIT tracks, which is how we can have multiple clips pointing at the same FIT file.
