My VIRB Elite Still Locks up all the time

I shouldn't say all the time, some days it works fine, but a lot of the time, it locks up.

If your unit does NOT lock up, what memory card do you use?

Brand
Size
Speed

Oh - and do you use any sensors?
I use a HRM and Speed and Cadence Sensor

The memory card I have is:

It apparently is 10MB/s WRITE speed.

Here's my situation:

I have the same SDcard, except it's only 32GB.
connectivity/sensors are the tempe, the remote and a Garmin Zumo 390LM.

I do have lock ups, but really rarely. once when I tried to use wireless (never used it since then, will try again soon)
and two weeks ago when using the remote. but it was -20C, so out of the allowed operational temperature.
yesterday I used the remote and Zumo for recording videos ond photos for a few hours, without any issues at all (+15C).
  • Well, I tried a super fast micro SD card and my camera still locks up.
    So frustrating.

Garmin - is this an acknowledged problem? And is it being actively investigated and fixed?

    Thanks,
    Brad

have you spoken with them over the phone? ive only contacted them via email so far.
  • Locks up every ride

My Garmin Virb Elite is only a couple of months old but so far it has locked up on every ride I've taken it on, about half a dozen so far. Usually locks up multiple times. I have tried reformatting the SD card, resetting the Virb to factory defaults, and making sure I have the latest firmware. No luck. I have a class 10 64GB Kingston memory card. I have even had my Virb lock up just by turning it on. Didn't even try to record. I'm to the point where I'm about to send it back for a warranty claim.

I did trade e-mail with support and got the usual recommendations: reset to factory default, check your SD card to make sure it's class 10, check your firmware. No dice. Very disappointed. Love my Edge 705 and my wife has the 800 which is also great. Those two devices are bulletproof. This camera...can't reliably get more than maybe one clip per ride. I have been able to get a couple of 6+ minute shots when it does work, but then the next time I try it locks up.
  • I have tried two Elites now, same problem with both, locks up randomly.
A good friend went through two as well, but decided to return it instead of waiting for Garmin to finish it.

only had time for a quick lap but got a 30min full ride record after another hard reset and installing this card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DM1BDKU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

was in 720p 60fps mode with stabilization on.

well fark me runnin... 37min after work ride and it froze up twice with this new expensive EXTREME San Disk SD Card. so ive used 4 different sd cards in it now and multiple hard resets and still this...

on the positive, it did seem to be more responsive with this new card when it was working... meh.

more testing and calls to garmin coming...

ok i should have waited to post... after importing, i only have the last 11mins of footage... so the freezes gave me no footage at all again. which is fine except i came up on 2 different packs of wild hogs that i recorded... the 2nd group a tiny little straggler pig was still eating in the field and i snuck up about 5ft behind him on foot before he ran off... but no footage of that fun adventure.

    thanks a lot garmin.

theyre sending another unit after long correspondence even though they "are unaware of any such issue with the virb elite".

    meh.
